Hunnypot is our bi-weekly, internet-based live radio experience. Launched in November 2005, Hunnypot Radio is pure, unencumbered, freeform “edutainment” at its finest. Hunnypot DJ/hosts are joined by music and entertainment industry professionals, artists and songwriters and the creative community at large to celebrate our favorite music (old and new), discuss current cultural and musical trends and share opinions on the state of the industry. Hunnypot features live in-club performances by some of the most exciting and diverse artists in music today. John spent the first 20 years of his career in the music industry as an integral member of Windswept Music Publishing. He helped take the company from a fledgling start-up to the largest independent Music Publisher in the world, a feat that recently resulted in one of the most lucrative catalogue sales in Music Publishing history.
In 2008 John applied the A&R/Publisher/Placement model to the branded Hunnypot name and established itself as a leading independent music publishing/placement company representing the catalogues of Far East Movement, Louis Prima Jr., The Dollyrots, Barnyard Stompers, Mochipet, Young Creatures, The Cataracs, Dr. Hollywood, A House For Lions, Bearheart, J*LABS and Ghost Lit Kingdom.
John’s early track record as a song-plugger boasts hits like Eric Clapton’s “Before You Accuse Me” and Vanessa Williams’ career-defining song “Save The Best For Last.” Over the course of his industrious Publishing career, John has worked closely with some of the biggest songwriters of all-time including Sean Garrett (Usher “Yeah”, Fergie “London Bridge”), Mike Elizondo (50 Cent “In Da Club”, Mary J. Blige “Family Affair”) and Albert Hammond (Julio Iglesias “To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before,” The Hollies “The Air That I Breathe”).
As Sr. Vice President of Film & Television Music for Windswept, John was essential in the synchronization and licensing careers of such seminal artists as Pete Townsend, John Mellencamp, Nick Cave, The Allman Brothers and Willie Nelson as well as new stars like Corrine Bailey Ray, Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon, Beyonce, Mickey Avalon and Lady Sovereign. Some personal placement triumphs for John include Snow Patrol “Chasing Cars” in Grey’s Anatomy, The Who songs featured in the entire CSI franchise, Kings of Leon’s “Molly’s Chamber” for Volkswagon, and The Dollyrots “Because I’m Awesome” for both Hewlitt/Packard and Kohl’s Department Stores.
As one of the key A&R representatives for Windswept, some of John’s signings included Fischerspooner, The Dollyrots, Meat Beat Manifesto, The Cramps, Talib Kweli, Blackstar, The Coup, Hi-Tek, The BellRays, Johnette Napollitano (Concrete Blonde) and Shy Child.
John is also on the Music Industry Executive Fundraising Committee for the City of Hope, the premier Music Industry charity organization and was a member of the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Film & Television Task Force.
Hunnypot Unlimited was originally formed to create “community” within the then burgeoning film, television, ad and gaming music fields. After quickly accomplishing this mission by establishing itself as the epicenter of the industry’s social community, Hunnypot has gone on to acquire meaningful copyrights and masters, discover and develop commercially viable talent and leverage strong industry experience and relationships to generate significant income streams and exposure for our talent and our sponsor partners.
The name “Hunnypot” was first introduced in 2000 by music industry veterans John Anderson (at the time, Sr. VP of Creative/Film & TV for Windswept Music) and top-tier Music Supervisor PJ Bloom. In an effort to bolster internal support for their soon-to-be highly significant and lucrative area of the Entertainment Industry, Hunnypot was originally designed as a “mixer” for the rapidly growing Film, Television, Ad and Gaming Music and Soundtrack fields. By way of monthly parties and one-off events throughout the world, the Hunnypot Party has come to symbolize an electrifying, exhilarating and stimulating experience for the entire creative community.
In November 2005, John launched Hunnypot Radio; a live, interactive “listening session” emanating from the Hunnypot studios and streamed over the Internet at the HunnypotUnlimited.com site. This bi-weekly radio show draws a consistent audience of music and entertainment industry professionals, artists and songwriters, friends, acquaintances and the creative community at large. Not only has the radio show generated extraordinary industry buzz and favorable press, it has led to sponsorships from beverage and lifestyle companies (including Korbel Champagne, Tito’s Vodka, Bionade, Hubert’s Lemonade, Blue Microphones, IZZE & Kenwood Wines).
In September 2007 and after 18-years with the company, John Anderson left his role as Sr. VP of Film & TV Music/Creative at Windswept Music so that he could focus his attention on Hunnypot Unlimited in order to fulfill his greater, long-term goals for the brand.
