JOHN FULFORD (DJ SET) + WESTERN BELLS + THE CONTROVERSY + BARNYARD STOMPERS + LATE NIGHT FRIENDS + DALAL

HOT TUB JOHNNIE and the Hunnypot Radio crew took to The Mint last week for the 313th Hunnypot Radio Show. Hot Tub Johnnie came out the gates with a special selected set of tunes including TREASURE TOWN, KERO KERO BONITO, SALT ASHES, BJ THE CHICAGO KID, E40, KEITH APE and MUCH MORE.

Our special industry guest was WRITER/COMPOSER JOHN FULFORD, John shared his secrets to having licensed over 1200 ques in ads, trailers, film and tv. John’s playlist featured songs from his brand new FIRSTCOM remix compilation.

Kicking off the live music segment of the show was LA based husband and wife team, WESTERN BELLS. Western Bells formed following an impromptu sound bath in the Mojave Desert. The band performed a collection of modern cinematic songs with shimmering soulful melodies backlit by classic 808 and 909 beats.

Next to hit the stage was the Los Angeles electronic art-pop duo The Controversy. This exciting up-and-coming group is on the bubble of many great things. The Controversy bounced through an infectious set loaded with catchy melodies, sexy beats, and big booming choruses. Highlights included their brilliant performances of their single, “QUEEN OF CHINATOWN”.

Up next was husband and wife duo Barnyard Stompers. They play the roughest and rawest Country music allowed by law and then some. Highlights from their set were "EVERBODY KNOWS", "CORN LIQUOR" and "TRUCK DRIVIN' SON OF A BITCH"!

Late Night Friends, an indie/alt rock band from Los Angeles, brought the rock in support of their debut LP, WHAT I THINK I'M NOT on FAINFARE RECORDS.

Closing out the night was POP/R&B vocalist, DALAL Performing with a full band, DALAL grooved through a smooth set featuring her single "TASTE THE NIGHT". Be sure to check out and support all these talented artists.

Late Night Friends

Late Night Friends is an indie/alt rock band from Los Angeles, CA. Jonathan Baron and Barrett Shuler started awkwardly constructing songs sometime around Christmas 2013. At first, Shuler didn't appreciate Baron's affinity for 60's psychedelia and 70's punk. Baron, in retaliation, smugly dismissed Shuler's enthusiasm for obscure instrumental bands and Jeff Tweedy. The two buried the hatchet over a shared love for several 90's bands and have cohabitated politely since.

Mutual friend and drummer Keith Roenke always joked that they should start a band because "the marriage of their styles would either work really well or not at all." LNF was shaped up once Barrett recruited his former [Coral Springs, FL] Little League teammate Alex Gallner to play bass.

Late Night Friends' Debut LP, What I Think I'm Not, will be released on June 30th, 2015 via Limited Fanfare Records. Recorded by Steve Kille (of Dead Meadow), Mixed by Mike Pappas and Mastered by Dan Coutant (The Gaslight Anthem, Jawbox, Denney and The Jets).
