Tiger Tooth - Tiger Asylum

Johnny Siera of The Death Set, is joined by band-mate, synthesist and producer William Broussard, and visual/video artist Sofia Szamosi for their latest passion project. United by their unique outlook on multi-media concepts, Tiger Tooth is a DIY synthesis of dark, twisted techno and fine-crafted visuals. After two years in the making, today marks the start of their epic journey as Tiger Tooth.

Out today on their very own Baby Tooth Imprint and kicking off their foray into the techno world is 'Tiger Asylum', a dark, bass-heavy banger. The lead single from their forthcoming 15-track self-titled album, 'Tiger Asylum' is destined to be a hit amongst fans and peers alike, already gaining strong reactions and play from a diverse list of tastemakers including Skream, Marco Carola, Groove Armada, Paco Osuna, Digitalism, Danny Tenaglia, Anna Lunoe, Ramon Tapia, M.A.N.D.Y. + more. Ramon Tapia states it perfectly - "Big Tracks".

Loaded with hair-raising feline growls, ‘Tiger Asylum’ is the appropriately-named side A of their debut, a twisted techno burner that utilizes an original analog Moog Prodigy to provide the deranged bass. “The drop sounded like the soundtrack to a panic attack, hence the asylum..” explains Siera. Side B, ‘Baboon Heart’, is no less aggressive in its approach and highlights the group’s appreciation for dark, menacing techno. Also sure to cause a ruckus today is the world premiere of the single's visual component on LessThan3: a cheeky, slightly spooky number which can be viewed HERE. Directed by Szamosi, the haunting 'Tiger Asylum' video features an dissident four-legged furry friend of the band, a baby breaking the rules, and a brief cameo by Tiger Tooth themselves.

Even while playing punk music as The Death Set, Siera and Broussard shared a mutual passion for house and techno. Siera, having worked with Szamosi in the past on videos for artists like Yolanda Be Cool and Motez, saw an opportunity to integrate the diverse talents of his wife, and friend along with his own. Thus, the Tiger Tooth brand was born. While their intention was never to write a full-length album, this sundry, cohesive body of work took on a life of its own as they embraced the opportunity to have complete creative control of every aspect of the project: music, art, websites, video, and more. Now, with Szamosi directing the visuals and the combined skills of Siera and Broussard on analogue and digital machines, Tiger Tooth’s impressive evolution as a multi-faceted multimedia art project is fully underway.

  • MILLY - "Bittersweet Mary"
MILLY - "Bittersweet Mary" “I think about death all the time.” Almost ironic for someone called Brendan Dyer. Principal songwriter and singer of the indie rock, shoegaze band MILLY, Dyer lays his hushed vocals over a bed of heavy guitar riffs while singing about both love and death. In their freshly released third LP… Read more

DREAM THEATER, NIGHT TERROR When the video for "Night Terror" was released, I did myself the injustice of reading a ton of related social media posts prior to listening to the track out right. I saw everything from 'Best Song Ever' to 'Total Disappointment' and everything in between. Who would have thought a new… Read more
