Don’t say we didn’t warn you, but you might be tricked into thinking this video was straight outta the seventies. Blue and yellow streaked bodysuit, golden yellow cape, and red leg warmers with skates in striking colors. You feel it?
This “disco chick” is Kiki Kyte. She is a vibrant soul glamorously inspired by the seventies from the Carolinas. Currently fiercely skating in California dressed her golden cape with yellow pompoms, we heard Kiki will stop by at the Mint on March 20th (not literally, but she’ll be here).
This singer-drummer-entertainer has such strong appreciation for music, now “New York City, Hollywood has a new disco beat” -- “Do do dodododo!” In Kiki’s journey to this second collaboration with the European Boogie Production Team Cool Million aka Frank Ryle & Rob Hardt, or you may say the Mint in two weeks, she has worked with several popular acts including The Mary Jane Girls, Klymaxx and ten times Grammy award winner Chaka Khan.
As the music video starts, you’ll hear vocals singing, “Don’t you let life weigh you down, weigh you down,” as Kiki spins in her golden cape, not letting the tassels stay put. In case you are a big fan of the 70’s, yes, it is the melody of the Earth, Wind & Fire’s mighty work of art “Keep Your Head to the Sky.” Kiki made the tune her own and it sounds radiating with the electric pulse as the beats kick in, and dullness is nowhere to be found. Funky yet sweet.
For the grooviest jam, watch the video above. March 20th 7pm, let’s watch Kiki “shut this place [the Mint] down” together. Guess if she will dance in her stilettos, or her mighty skates?
