Black Kids - In A Song

Eighties inspired band Black Kids hits fans with a simple dreamy video for "In A Song". While the disco balls and blue/pink theme add a retro feeling, light plays one the the biggest roles in this musical visual. Throughout the video, there are dim flashes adding incredible dimension with limited set design as the band plays in a house setting. We also see a lot of shifting focus with soft lighting evoking that warm tenderness visually that love can make one feel. Very fitting for a tune singing of how the feeling of love can't only be told in a song.

Black Kids was formed in Jacksonville, Florida with Reggie Youngblood on guitar and vocals, Ali Youngblood and Dawn Watley on keyboards and back up vocals, Owen Holmes on bass, and Kevin Snow on drums. Reggie and Ali are brother and sister having met the other members at Sunday school. If you love The Cure, you'll love this indie/alternative band!

  • MONOTRONIC - LOOKING AWAY
MONOTRONIC - LOOKING AWAY A desert holiday is a specific kind of Western treat that calls to even the most devoted snow bunnies. Angelenos are lucky enough to be afforded such an escape, where two hours on the road provides a kind of rough-and-tumble clarity that sea-salted air can't always satisfy. Since we've glided… Read more

When the name Peter Murphy is mentioned, immediately images of bats, spirits and the blackest of gloom comes to mind, but in the most fascinating way. The Goth Godfather of the youth who didn’t confirm, who made them feel right at home in their long black skirts, army jacket, black… Read more

  • MILLY - "Bittersweet Mary"
MILLY - "Bittersweet Mary" “I think about death all the time.” Almost ironic for someone called Brendan Dyer. Principal songwriter and singer of the indie rock, shoegaze band MILLY, Dyer lays his hushed vocals over a bed of heavy guitar riffs while singing about both love and death. In their freshly released third LP… Read more

  • DREAM THEATER, NIGHT TERROR
DREAM THEATER, NIGHT TERROR When the video for "Night Terror" was released, I did myself the injustice of reading a ton of related social media posts prior to listening to the track out right. I saw everything from 'Best Song Ever' to 'Total Disappointment' and everything in between. Who would have thought a new… Read more
