There is a lot to be said about Senior Discount’s dedication to the punk rock genre. The band hails from Providence, Rhode Island and have played over 250 shows in the New England area. They recently released their new album The Best Revenge on July 13th, the anticipated album since their Christmas Medley single back in December of 2017, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you are truly missing out. I had not heard of Senior Discount until recently but if you are fans of Blink-182, Less Than Jake, and Green Day, you won’t be disappointed.
The evolution of each song track-to-track builds on top of each other in a way that just works. The random commentary you hear in certain songs such as “Smile” give you a real authentic live feel to the songs. I really enjoy the way each song gets your head nodding to the tune. I believe that is what makes punk rock, and Senior Discount excelled in that on this album.
A big seller for me is how they go from a full sprint tempo to half-time like it’s nothing. As a drummer myself, I appreciate the creative touch another Christian Staton adds to his rhythm. It’s not easy to keep it all together when you’re jamming that hard and trying to stay on beat but altogether, Senior Discount makes it work very well. And mad props to them for putting their own twist on "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley and absolutely killing it!
It’s very refreshing to know that raw punk rock is still out there alive and well. If you get the opportunity, be sure to check them out where you listen and stream music. Also, be sure to follow them on their platforms to stay up to date with new releases and shows they will be playing in the New England area. Great job on the new album Senior Discount and we look forward to hearing more from you!
