I am very excited to review Super American’s album Tequila Sunrise because I got the opportunity to catch them on tour with Have Mercy in Dallas this summer. I really enjoyed the flow of this album. Each song was placed very creatively and seamlessly. Super American is best defined in my opinion as a creative jam band. With a heavy indie influence it would be best compared to Oasis mixed with a softer Blink-182. This dynamic duo really does a great job of tying everything together into a 13-song album.

I think one of my favorite songs on the album is “Givin’ It Up” because it reminds me of “Good Riddance” by Green day and that was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar. I enjoy the fast up beat tempo continued throughout the song. The guitar is very clean and well heard by the listener which makes it very pleasant to listen to. The melodies in the vocals and guitar mesh very well with the whole tune.

Tequila Sunrise is an easy listen. Even when you don’t know where the lyrics will go next, you find yourself singing along as best as you can. The choruses are catchy in every track due to the happy melodies in the vocals. In “Hands Down Olivia”, you hear the chorus once and you’re hooked. From that point on you won’t forget the words! Super American just released a video for “Hands Down Olivia” and it is a love story about just being you wonderfully put together.

Pat Feely and Matt Cox do such a great job of accenting each other in every song through their vocals. I’ve always appreciated duos that could mix their voices and complement each other like in the song “Neon Lights”. You can tell they put a lot of time and work into this album and I am sure they are very excited to show everyone what they created.

Congrats Pat and Matt on the record. We are very stoked to see you both propel forward with the release of your new album, Tequila Sunrise being released on Take This To Heart Records September 14^th!
