To say June 24th at The Echo was a magical and enchanting evening would be an understatement. Lamb headlined the night with support from Never Goodbye, and in between sets a DJ kept the energy going. It was the kind of night that makes you lose track of time.
One of my favorite things about Never Goodbye's set was simply how raw and vulnerable his energy and performance felt. It made him easy to connect and relate to - you could feel the emotion in his music. I also really dug the Chao background he had on the stage at one point.
His songs that stood out to me were “I Wanna Be Her Jesus,” “I Wanna Swim Like I’m A Fish,” and “I Wanna Do Better.”
If you’re into emo music that also makes you want to dance, I’d highly recommend checking out Never Goodbye.
Lamb caught us by surprise by having her DJ come on first. He quickly warmed us up and got everyone dancing and hyped, so by the time Lamb made her enchanting entrance, we were already primed. Lamb has this captivating way of taking over the stage - to the point that the world around you vanishes and you’re locked into the music, finding yourself in another world. Her dancing and movements are both ethereal and full of energy at the same time.
She even shared unreleased music that I know a lot of people are going to love. I appreciated her down-to-earth way of interacting with the audience and how she opened up with us. There was even a moment where she made a drawing on stage and gave it to a lucky fan. I love the whimsical but upbeat feeling of her music.
Her setlist that night included “Tinfoil Hats,” “Animal Control,” “Beer City,” “Drain You,” “Time To Pretend,” “Perfect Company” (which just came out, so I recommend giving it a listen), “Cope,” “Habitual,” “Tarmac,” “Thumbs,” and everyone’s favorite, “Overkill.” The lights matched the music, and her smile lit up the space. She ended the night with “Overkill,” but you could tell the crowd wanted more.
The evening was mesmerizing and unforgettable. I’m eager to hear what both artists drop next and to follow more of their journey. Lamb is one of those artists who makes you feel as if you’re dreaming as you get lost in the music - while also delivering a performance that just can’t be forgotten. You’ll be inspired just watching.
