Named after the area of Toronto where they live, The Beaches are good girls gone great. Proud teen pioneers of the new wave of fem-rock, their sassy, saw-toothed alt-rock songs recall The Strokes, Elastica, The White Stripes, Metric and The Runaways and writhe, snarl and spit the kind of romantic defiance, youth rebellion and peer solidarity that makes these females such a formidable force for rock.
Their single Loner has been gaining a ton of support by alternative radio in Canada as well as Los Angeles. The Video follows the girls through a momentous night out including a live show, hopping fences and a jacuzzi.
We're proud to announce that two of our newest acts have been nominated by LA Weekly to contend for the title of Best Live Band in Los Angeles! Whether you prefer the master-crafted melodies of King Washington or the no-holds-barred hard-rock fury of Prima Donna, we have no doubt that both bands are deserving of this honor.

Happy Birthday Aquarians! I'm sure you've all been diggin' the new Metronomy track. Well, now you've got the video too. Finally we can put that 5th Dimension song to bed (Age of Aquarius). Why do you guys get all the Astrological Sign pride songs anyway? Because you're all so successful and fun and just all around awesome?! No that just our CEO. His birthday's the 13th. Happy Birthday John Anderson!
The video was directed by award-winning French director Edouard Salier and produced by The Creators Project and Somesuch & Co. It follows space suit wearing Joe Mount to a glowing red planet inhabiting giant hairless cats and women wearing very elaborate headpieces. The new album called Love Letters, out on March 10 through Because Music.

Daniel De Blanke from Hunnypot Unlimited's Robotanists and Seven Saturdays just joined White Sea; the solo project of Morgan Kibby. Morgan is an American singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. She is known for fronting LA indie band The Romanovs as well as collaborating and touring with French shoegaze band M83.
They Don't Know is the first single off their forthcoming album in Cold Blood, due out this March. This epic music video was directed by Steven Johnson and shot almost entirely underwater. It's beautiful and free in both spirit and body... yeah they're naked.
Hunnypot alumni from NYC, Zak Downtown is taking over the rap game. He is creating his own blend of New York style, electric vibes, and hip-hop. The focus on capturing hip-hop and creating a sound divergent from what’s been done or expected is emblematic of the work. He is redefining what it means to be a hip-hop artist. In the coming years, Zak Downtown is definitely someone to watch as his career is just starting and will only continue to flourish. He also killed it at the Hunnypot Radio show a few months back and we can't wait to have him back!
The unique live experience of a P L a N E T S show is like witnessing some kind of eerie post-modern garage rock opera. Featuring vibey immersive atmospheres with dancers, actors and shadow puppetry coming at you from all directions in cahoots with the music–this is not your every day rock band. Always basing their material around a place, P L a N E T S recently released their debut album, TheDarkWoods. One last thing: there will be robots. You have to see it to believe it. https://twitter.com/planetstheband
Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew kicked off 2014 with a blazin' show last week at The Mint. Hot Tub treated us to new gems by The Dollyrots, Future Of The Left, Awfully Awesome, Future and much more.
Renowned LA based supervisor, Alyson Vidoli of GO Music Supervision joined us for a special interview/DJ Set. Alyson delivered an exceptional set of her current favorites over the past year til' now. Some highlights off her playlist wereFoster The People, Mansions On The Moon, Sharon Jones, Phantogram and much more.
Our next special guest of the night was none other than Detroit's own DJ Godfather. A true pioneer in the DJ world and known as the originator of Ghettotech, Godfather sat down for an intimate interview before he took over the 1s & 2s. We also had a chance to premiere his new single "Where The Hoes In This House" and "Super Swag".
Kicking off our live performances was LA based (via New Jersey) big screen/broadway actress, singer, Antonique Smith. Miss Smith set it off like no other with her beautiful vocals that soared over the soulful, r&b production layed out. Highlights included her opening track "Speechless" and debut single "Hold Up Wait A Minute (Woo Woo)".
Syracuse, NY based funk/hip hop trio, Sophistafunk was next to hit the stage and they did not disappoint. This multi-genre tour de force completely stole the show and opened up the dancefloor with their electronic infused funk dance grooves and catchy hip hop rhymes. The highlight of the night was their standout track "Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll" off their new album Freedom Is.
Closing out the night was LA/NY female alt/hip hop dance duo, Nola Darling. This spit fire duo performed a smokin' set of high energy hip hop dance tracks , none of which hit harder than their standout jams "STFU (Start The Riot)" and "No Bra, No Panties".
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 01/13/2014
Hailing from New York and Los Angeles, by way of Haiti & St. Lucia, NOLA DARLING’s sound is new school fresh, yet old world cool. Tongue-in-cheek sensibility and spit-fire flows mashed-up with sweet and siren-like vocals make Alexandra and Jaquita the girls you want to get to know.
Citing The Fugees, Zap Mama, Tanya Stephens, Steel Pulse, Esthero and Salt ‘N Pepa, among many others as strong influences, Alex and Jaq continue to hone their crafts and unique sound. They have collaborated with an impressive and growing list of artist/producers including: Grammy winners Om’mas Keith (Frank Ocean, Erykah Badu) and Shafiq Hussein (Robert Glasper, Erykah Badu), Tim K (Esthero, Tiny Hearts, Dam Funk), and the legendary Kwame (Mary J Blige, Christina Aguilera, Will Smith).
Nola Darling also collaborated with chart topping Australian group, Yolanda Be Cool on the international smash “Change,” for YBC’s debut album, “Ladies and Mentalmen” (Steve Aoki’s DIM MAK Records). “Change” has been in heavy rotation on radio stations from Bali to London, to Australia and beyond. The tune hit #1 on the official Korean EDM chart in May 2013.
The ladies of Nola Darling are currently working on top line for an array of up and coming producers as well as writing for their upcoming releases. Stay tuned for much more to come from Alex and Jaq in 2014.

Imagine a voice that possessed the melodic soul of Adele, the acrobatic notes of Celine Dion and the high-energy of Beyoncé – that would be the pitch-perfect fusion of Antonique, the artist. Antonique is following the career path of Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross and Whitney Houston; pursuing a career in film while also continuing to make her dream of a Grammy-winning recording career into the most amazing of realities. Her new single is “Hold Up Wait A Minute (Woo Woo)”, don’t miss her special live Hunnypot performance this Monday 1/10/14 at The Mint
