Kicking off our live music segment was Indie Folk Singer/Songwriter, JULIET PIPER. Juliet performed songs from her Wonder & Time EP. Our next guest was London based songwriter, CHESNEY HAWKES. Best known for his 90's pop smash "The One and Only", Chesney is still at it and continues to write and produce based in LA. Chesney joined us for a special sit down interview and live performance where he delivered a calming and joyful acoustic guitar and piano set. Joining us from our own backyard, was SWING HERO performing a tasty alternative post-punk rock that left us all with a rebel attitude. THE WEST COAST BOUNCERS hit the stage real hard! Residing in LA, they spun a killer set, you need to experience. Closing out the night was N0VEL who's Dance/Pop styling sparked the dance party.
BIG THANKS to all who came out and enjoyed the 308th Hunnypot Radio Show!! If you were unable to see the show or missed one of these special performances head over to the Hunnypot Radio page and continue to join us every other Monday night at The Mint as we continue to push the envelope with exposing today’s bubbling music talent.
Once called “the L.A. scene secret weapon” by Billboard Magazine, Greg came to Angry Mob after years in the Southern California underground music scene: touring in bands; booking concerts, tours, and festivals; producing recordings; running an independent label; managing a radio station; doing PR for artists; scouting and signing new talent for music companies; DJ’ing; pitching songs for synch licensing; and throwing SXSW and CMJ showcases. Approximately 50,000 singles were released in the UK during the nineties. With five weeks at the top, the twentieth most successful release of that entire decade was ‘The One and Only’, the lead song from the soundtrack of the film “Buddy’s Song” sung by a 19 year old Chesney. The song has gone on to be the subject of numerous compilation albums, TV ads, TV theme music, film soundtracks and, now a student anthem, continues to top ‘Best pop song of the nineties’ polls.
Chesney has worked with writers and producers from a broad section of the industry, among them Mark Goldenberg (The Eels), Jesse Valenzuela (The Gin Blossoms) and Counting Crows producer Marvin Etzioni. Other collaborators include Howard Jones, the Police’s Stuart Copeland, Nik Kershaw, Bijou Phillips and more Rob Davis (co-writer of Kylie’s Can’t Get you out of My Head). Artists continue to cover his songs and he has had material recorded by three international Pop Idol winners. Tweet @ChesneyHawkes chesneyhawkes.com
Conceived by Marshall Gallagher (ex-Solar Bear, touring guitarist for 3OH!3) in 2011, Swing Hero is an amalgam of shimmery dreamo and virtuosic post-grunge. The delivery is heavy, pretty and deceptively straightforward. The subject matter: growing up and dealing with heartbreak is exhausting, no matter who you are. Music fans will find a nostalgic comfort in layer after layer of warm guitar, mid-tempo pocket grooves and vocals that are both lyrically sharp and melodically contagious.
For the band, 2014 brings the prospect of at least one brand new release, shows spanning the west coast and midwest, and a chance to prove their true prowess in the wake of their recent relocation to Los Angeles. Swing Hero is climbing steadily, gunning for soft spots and sentimental hearts around the globe. swingheroband.com Follow @swinghero

Individually these two have conquered modern music. From underground dance to classic rock, these two super DJ/Producers have energized every note and beat possible. But together they form one of the newest and most watched production teams of today “The West Coast Bouncers” featuring guest vocalists Fatman Scoop & Blake Lewis will soon be a name to surpass the countless number of awarded songs and remixes the duo has individually accomplished. Sophia and her best friends dance down catwalk have an elaborate shopping spree at Kmart and Sophia throws down some serious rap game. Thank you Leah and All Access Music for coming out and covering the event!
Apologizes for the missing recorded audio elements :(
Hot Tub Johnnie and the Hunnypot Radio crew kicked off 2015 with a bang! It was an incredible evening of music, The Mint was perfectly packed throughout the night. HOT TUB dropped a set of tunes that jumped off w. BLACK STROBE, CHELA, HOLYCHILD, BAD LANDS, LEIKELI47 and many more!
Hunnypot’s own BOOM SHACK filled in for the industry DJ set. Boom Shack provided new jams from RAINY DAY WOMAN, IAIN WOODS, TIMEFLIES, THE DISTRICTS, PINK MURDER, ANDERSON .PAAK and lots more.
We kicked off the live music with LA’s own, CELESTE STONEY who with her 8-piece band belted out an incredible cover of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” and her catchy debut single “My Kinda Crazy”. After Celeste warmed the stage up we all were treated to a dynamic performance from LA based jazz, funk, pop, rock outfit, MAGNOLIA MEMOIR. Fronted by lead singer, Mela Lee, Magnolia Memoir played a variety of songs off their latest album, Pale Fire…including the single “Odds & Ends” and the soulful, “No One Like You”. Next to hit the stage was long-standing LA based rockers, THE JANKS who dropped in for a sit down interview to plug their new EP and title track, “Living In Denial”. Once they hit the stage The Janks delivered catchy rock gems with songs like “All Mine”, “Millionaire” and “Old Enough”. After The Janks shook us we decided to smooth it out with the soothing and sultry vocal stylings of LYDIA RENE. Pure talent was definitely on display as Lydia’s beautiful piano playing and her smoothed out, jazz infused soul captivated the crowd. Closing out the night was LA based rapper, QUINN who turned out a killer set of laid back hip hop jams off his recently released debut album, No Time Wasted. Quinn was backed up on the 1s and 2s by producer/DJ, CHRIS PAUL who even provided some hard bangers for the Hunnypot Dance Party.
BIG THANKS to all who came out and helped us kick off our first show of 2015, the 307th Hunnypot Radio Show!
New powerhouse Pop/Soul Artist, Celeste Stoney will be performing live @TheMintLA on 1/12 8pm for the 1st HunnyPot of 2015. Celeste's crazy vocal range and quirky, fun throwback music is creating a BUZZ in the industry.
Perez Hilton says she "Reminds him of P!NK" and that her debut single, "My Kinda Crazy could be the 2015 All About That Bass".
She ignites every stage she plays and engages new audiences with her 8 piece band and roof shattering vocals. http://www.celestestoney.com Follow her @celestestoney
Their self-titled debut has already been labeled, “…an instant classic” by fans like Grant Lee Phillips, Margaret Cho, and Mark Flanagan, owner of the Legendary Largo-Los Angeles who discovered them. The adventurous, genre-bending five piece ensemble is heralded as one of Los Angeles’ trending breakthrough bands. Critics seeking to capture the vibe, have described the Memoir as, “Adele meets The Black Keys” and “…Fiona Apple meets the Killers with a dash of The Clash“, but they remain defiantly singular, cinematic, and absolutely unforgettable after you’ve seen them live. www.magnoliamemoir.com Follow them @MagnoliaMemoir
Los Angeles based rock group THE JANKS, fronted by brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed along with rhythm section Nate Light and Leon LeDoux, make it their mission to produce music in the same way they live their lives; with both sincerity and irreverence. The Janks create a sound that combines the traditional two-part vocal harmony of The Everly Brothers with the adept musicianship and blues-rock stylings of Led Zeppelin -- all with a heavy dose of humorous abandon a la Ween. They have logged over 500 live appearances at venues including The Troubadour, House of Blues, The Echo, and The Echoplex, and have held residencies at two of Los Angeles’ most touted indie rock clubs, The Satellite and the Bootleg Theater. www.thejanks.com Tweet @thejanks
If certain things are said to be timeless, pure talent is definitely one of them. Lydia René is soul music's answer to that intangible quality that consistently moves audiences across generations. The sultry articulation of her vocals draw listeners to her music, while her frank songwriting adds honesty and wit to her relatable messages.
To say it plainly, it is bold musicality that sets Lydia René apart from the pack. A classically trained pianist and accomplished musician, Lydia René’s sound is best described as smooth out-of-the box soul. Puckered with sonic surprises, it is infused with jazz riffs and alternative stylings that help take the listener to a higher musical plateau than that of the norm. Lydia René’s eclectic influences and free spirited musicianship culminated in her first release My Love IS My Life, recorded live in 2008. @lydia_rene www.lydiarene.com
LA Based rapper and producer Quinn presents his debut album "No Time Wasted" this past October. The album's producers include himself, Chris Paul, Shepard, and the Teamsterz with beats that exemplify "laid back" hip hop. Lyrically, Quinn give just as much thought and care to what he's saying as the care that has taken in the beats he's wrapping over. Quinn's rhymes are real and relatable - no fronting or embellishing.

- Get Up, Stand Up (Sign of Life) is the second single off of Los Angeles based songwriting duo Bonhom. Bonhom is a new pop project co-created by James Coleman and Diwon. The two produce their own unique brand of epic dream like pop which you may have heard on your favorite TV programs. Bonhom recently had their song “Live for the Now” featured in the season premier of Witches of Eastend. Their single NYE has been picked up by Indaba Music and is currently being remixed by over 35 countries.
With Bonhom’s forthcoming album, Sex War, set to be January 20th, the two defy genres and labels blending elements of folk, pop, hip hop, edm and rock into an unmistakable sound that is Bonhom.
With over fifteen years in the music business, most notably with Maverick Records and Warner Brothers, James Coleman has toured and performed internationally and has licensed songs for commercials, compilations, and various film projects. During his stint at Warner Brothers, Coleman co-wrote with artists such as Aaron Kamin (The Calling), Jess Cates (Nick Lachey & the Backstreet Boys), and Stacy Jones (American Hi-Fi). For Coleman, music is a path to self-actualization even as it enables him to empathize with all types of people.
With over a decade of experience producing and performing, Diwon skillfully blends psychadelia with modern electro hip-hop, dancehall, and pop. Dubbed a “buzzmaking beatsmith” by The DJ Booth, URB noted that “Diwon is something else…in a profound kind of way,” calling his sound titillating and “juicy for the ears.” The Village Voice described his productions as “adventurous and banging.” Diwon has remixed a diverse array of artists from Dizzee Rascal and Miike Snow to The XX and Lana Del Rey. MTV highlighted Diwon’s blend of hip hop and dancehall while 2DOPEBOYZ and Vibe Magazine’s allhiphop.com have also noted Diwon’s rap flips of 80′s inspired sonics
Bonhom blends pop, rock, and electronic elements to create innovative tracks ranging from their NYE with its slow build from a bass-driven atmospheric refrain into a massive rock hook, to infectious party anthems like “Animal” and “Top of the World”, while songs like “Your Eyes” draw inspiration from Bjork and Depeche Mode. Bonhom’s singles, “Live for Now” and “Get Up, Stand Up (Sign of Life)” embody their main message and music which compel listeners to live in the moment, let go of the past, and embrace the future. With a fantastic fusion of their musical talents, Coleman and Diwon produce the songs of which dreams are made.
Dune Rats are an Australian indie/jangle/surf/garage rock band from Brisbane, Queensland. The band is comprised of vocalist/guitarist Danny Beus and drummer BC Michaels; as well as bassist Brett Jansch (formerly of Bleeding Knees Club), who joined the band as an official member in 2013. The band was originally formed in 2011 by Beus and Michaels. Their first EP, Sexy Beach, was released that same year; which was produced and recorded by Tim Morrissey of The John Steel Singers.
A second EP, Atoms, was released in September 2011 and featured the single “Pogo.” It featured production work from Morrissey, Berkfinger (Philadelphia Grand Jury) and Sean Caskey. The band received attention on Triple J Unearthed, and were selected to play the Gold Coast leg of the 2012 Big Day Out. The band released a new single, Fuck It, in 2012; as well as touring with bands such as Bleeding Knees Club, DZ Deathrays, Children Collide and Violent Soho. 2013 saw the release of the band’s third EP, Smile. The EP featured the single “Red Light, Green Light,” for which a one-take video was made where the band re-enacted the DZ Deathrays video for “The Mess Up,” replacing their beer-sculling with bong-smoking. The video has picked up over 250 thousand views. The band also picked up international support slots for acts such as The Hives, Best Coast and FIDLAR; the latter of whom they toured with through the US as well. They were also invited to perform at SXSW in Austin, Texas; as well as a tour of South-East Asia.

Young Creatures is an LA-based band from "top of massive seaside cliffs and in the dim neighborhood dives of sunny L.A." The video "Fear of All Things" is taken from their album of the same name which was released recently in 2014. They playfully described themselves as “psych” -- as in “psychedelic,” “psych-pop hypnotists,” or a “psych-rock band in pop clothing.", but they differentiate themselves as a band of earthy emotion tied together in these sonic landscapes as opposed to the machine-driven pop. They are a young band with much to expect in the future!
