King Henry - What About Me

This music video for Grammy nominated producer King Henry’s tenth single "What About Me" starts in with a thumping trance like beat. Visually you are introduced to a team of stuntmen for what is referred to in the video as spinning; while the car turns circles the stuntmen also take turns cavorting from the moving vehicle. The song’s lyrics tell something of a thwarted love story; the precariousness of the stunt work in the video is a rather good metaphor for the tenuous nature of this longed for relationship. About once a minute there is a nice hip hop drop out which goes nice with the juxtaposition of slow motion and regular time video here. The music is a nice slow jam with not a lot of complicated changes; definitely something that would be good for a movie or television placement. It is not really surprising to learn that King Henry has worked with the likes of Major Lazer and The Weeknd as "What About Me" could easily fit in the set list of any nightclub. This new single never feels overdone or longwinded and the video itself is a perfect, pun intended, vehicle for the music. King Henry is definitely keeping busy and is one to watch as he is producing and co-writing a forthcoming album from Sasha Sloan.

  • Amyl and The Sniffers - Guided By Angels
Amyl and The Sniffers - Guided By Angels I was sent this video by Amyl and the Sniffers the other day and immediately gave it a watch. At first listen, I was like, "Where have I heard this style of music before?" It reminded me a lot of a local band I listen to here in Dallas called… Read more

SHY & D.R.S feat. JOSH SETTERFIELD - "FLEX" Country has long been a polarizing, impenetrable genre subjugated to the “but..” of the sentence, “I listen to everything,”. In a time where cross-pollination is the only way to stay current, it's also a genre that has maintained its air of sovereignty, managing to slyly subvert the popsphere by pivoting… Read more

MILA SMITH - LIARS & FAKES It can take some people a lifetime to learn how to spot the fakers, but at only sixteen Mila Smith has turned her bad friend blues into a banger. “Liars & Fakes”, the debut single from the South African songstress, is a soulful bop descended from disco edits of yore,… Read more

While this last year has made it feel easier than ever to indulge in that 3:32pm catnap, Xhaania’s new single, “Pull Up” is… Read more
