Old_Sport - Lighting Strikes My Spine

Old_Sport is a soul rock band that has been playing from coast to coast. They are currently working on a debut album and "Lightning Strikes My Spine" is their first music video offering.

The video starts with some close ups on instruments being played. Before long you find yourself pacing through a century old hardware store in Ocean Beach, San Diego with the lead singer who is posing like an employee closing down the store at the end of a long shift.

Things begin to get psychedelic with kaleidoscope style images of the band similar to Prince's music video for "When Doves Cry." It is notable that Old_Sport's mix includes the saxophone as they do cite The E Street Band as an influence. I myself couldn't help but draw comparisons to another '80s band, Icehouse, and their hit "Electric Blue."

As the music in "Lightning Strikes My Spine" reaches a crescendo you move into a cool blue lit night scene and the electric guitar indeed looks as neon as something out of the Tron movies. The colorization reminded me a bit of Jack White's video for "Freedom At 21." Overall the video made in collaboration with Tall Order Productions and directed by Edward Salerno, Jr is a short and sweet introduction to Old_Sport.
