The critically-acclaimed band, Pressing Strings, released an intriguing new album, And I For You. The 11-song collection takes you on a musical journey with different sounds, melodies and stories that leave a lasting impression on your soul.
It’s difficult to put the band into just one musical genre. Their new album demonstrates their ability to weave together elements of folk, soul, blues, reggae and rock in a remarkable way. The fusion of sound created by Pressing Strings is complimented by their nuanced art of storytelling and soothing, three part harmony. Based out of Annapolis, Maryland, the musical trio - Jordan Sokel (Guitar), Nick Welker (Bass), and Justin Kruger (Drums) - all contribute vocals to the songs, providing impressive layers and depth to their sound.
This album really shows you many sides of the band. And I For You opens up with their first single, “Your Love,” setting the tone with hints of reggae and heartfelt lyrics. Further along the journey, “Mercy” shows a moodier, evocative side with feelings of hope and redemption.
While most people will be drawn to their upbeat tunes, I can’t help falling in love with the slower, deeply emotional track “When The Morning Comes.” The trio's dramatic harmony combined with Sokel’s vocal versatility immediately struck a chord with me.
Near the end of the album, you get to hear the band fully rock out with a Live version of their hit “Carousel.” You can really hear the guitar, bass and drums as they take center stage. It’s a powerful song that makes you want to jam.
An appropriate ending to the album is an acoustic version of “We Will Be Alright.” It’s the perfect, feel-good arrangement to conclude the intimate journey that And I For You delivers.
Pressing Strings latest, And I For You, is as solid a release as they come and 100% Hunnypot approved. Grab a copy when you can, this one is truly spectacular!
