Raised in the musical heartland of Texas, Noah Vonne forged an original sound that blends elements of rock, soul, blues, and pop. From an early age, the New Braunfels native drew upon the likes of Janis Joplin, Sara Bareilles, Brandi Carlile, Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Joan Jett and Ella Fitzgerald — each of these powerful women can be heard within the expressive ripples of Vonne’s vocal delivery.
“My influences range quite a bit,” she admits, “but I’ve always been drawn to female powerhouses. They carry so much kindness alongside their incredible talent.”
In 2018, Vonne embarked on a journey across the world as lead singer of a group that performed three shows daily on Celebrity Cruise Line's newest ship, The Edge. After returning to the United States in 2019, she hit the ground running as direct support for Shawn James on the national The Dark & The Light Tour. Soon after, Vonne followed up with the release of two inventive singles, “LOVE MOVE” and “RnR”, each released ahead of the Love Move EP in June 2020.
In October 2020, Vonne premiered the official music video for her critically acclaimed single “SUNSET INN”. With the help of veteran producer Jimmy Messer, Noah is preparing for the debut of her first full length LP, written and produced in her new home of Southern California.

Noah Vonne, who is appearing on our next Hunnypot Live event July 11, just released a new single. Its' called "Heart of It". Check out the video here and be sure to see her live.
A bit about the vid & song: I wanted to portray the emotions of how it's felt leaning on my partner for my happiness, instead of just being able to find happiness within. I feel like it's very easy for me to be happy for someone else, but it's difficult to find it FOR myself. I wrote this one with my lovely friends Matt Bauer and Malena Cadiz over a FaceTime write. It was the first time ever writing with Malena and only the second time ever writing with Matt. I woke up with all the feels that day and knew I needed to get to the depths of why I was feeling so lonely. So before the write that day, I started working on the first verse and also the chorus hook a bit. But, when we got together and finished this one- we all knew it felt a bit different. Matt still texts me from time to time and says he thinks this song is the song for us all right now. This song always reminds me to find the clarity in a situation. I hope it does a little something for you too :)

Back in 2017, Brandon and I had the opportunity to cover the Loudwire Music Awards. There were legends of the rock and music business there like Avenged Sevenfold, Rob Halford performing with Judas Priest, Halestorm, and many more. However, one band that really stuck out to me was a band I had never heard of till that day. That band was Nothing More. They got to perform at the show, and seeing the bands energy, and the mechanical contraption they call the Scorpion Tail blew my mind and made me an instant fan. I have been fortunate enough to catch them a couple times since then has support acts. But Nothing More was finally coming back to California on a headlining tour after years of waiting and bringing with them Atreyu and Eva Under Fire. It was time to Turn It Up at the House of Blues, Anaheim.
Opening the show was Michigan residents, Eva Under Fire. I’ve heard good things about this band, and they have popped up on my Spotify Radio from time to time, but this was my first time finally getting to see them. Starting their set with “Comatose,” lead singer Amanda Lyberg hit the stage with an explosion of energy. Running from one side of the stage to the other, making sure to get everyone in the crowd up and jumping. Guitarist and band fashionista, Chris Slapnik was dressed in a stylish Eva Under Fire onesie. Trading off hard hitting licks with fellow guitarist Rob Ryberg. These two brought the crunchy riffs to the House of Blues. Bassist Edward Joseph could be seen grooving in the back. Though he might not have been too showy, he was keeping the low-end grooving like John Entwistle. Hanging out in the back was drummer Corey Newsom, showing off the gun show has he crashed on each cymbal. Playing songs like “Blow,” “Heroin(e),” “Another Shot to the Heart,” “The Strong,” “Coming for Blood,” and ending the night with a stellar cover of Journey’s classic “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart).” Eva Under Fire was just the right kind of rock music we needed to hear to get the show started, and our heads banging.
The next band of the night is one that Uncivil Revolt is very familiar with. The metalcore legends that are Atreyu. Atreyu had just come through their own headlining tour at the Observatory back in December. So, it was a bit weird seeing them as a support act on this tour, but none the less we were happy to see them again. Now being fronted by Brandon Saller, who moved to the front of the stage from behind the drum kit. Every time I see Brandon fronting Atreyu, he just seems to have more and more charisma not being behind the kit. One person who is always a standout on stage is guitarist Dan Jacobs, with his mohawk and explorer guitar. Jacobs has been a standout guitarist in the scene for years. Not to be outdone, fellow Atreyu Guitarist Travis Miguel can be seen doing laps on stage while maintaining a rhythm that lets Jacobs go wild. Bassist Marc McKnight, sporting his ZZ Top length beard, appears to have boundless amount of energy as he head bangs so much, flipping his beard over his head. Newest member and drummer Kyle Rosa fits into the band perfectly. While being stuck behind the kit, he is still a showman like the rest of the band whipping his hair and making faces throughout the set. Atreyu’s set was filled with hits like “Baptize,” “Becoming the Bull,” “Right Side of the Bed,” “The Time is Now,” “Ex’s and Oh’s,” “Falling Down,” “Warrior,” and ending their set with my personal favorite song “Blow.” The guys in Atreyu are always a fun band to see live.
Finally, it was time to Turn it up like only Nothing More can. Kicking off their set with one of their newest singles “Turn It Up Like (Stand in the Fire),” and the boys of Nothing More came out attacking the audience with high energy. Halfway through the song, vocalist Jonny Hawkins jumped on the Scorpion Tail. Their giant mechanical contraption that launches Jonny into the air, normally saved for the latter half of the show. And yet, this was the first song of the set and Jonny was flying high in the air. If there was anyone running low on energy, they just got hit with their second wind at this time moment. Guitarist Mark Vollelunga, seen wearing a shirt with one sleeve ripped off and no shoes, shreds his pearl white guitar. Bassist Daniel Oliver has the best war face of the band. As his picking along his bass lines, you can see his grit and contort his face as he feels the music in his soul. The man behind the kit, drummer Ben Anderson was all smiles. You could tell how much he loved to be back playing live music again. Playing songs like “Let ‘em Burn,” “Mr. MTV,” “Do You Really Want It?” “Jenny,” “Go to War,” “Tired of Winning,” “Fadein/Fadeout,” “Ocean Floor,” and ending their night with “This is the Time (Ballast).” Nothing More put together a stellar set list of some of their biggest songs and left the audiences wanting more.
This tour was originally announced with Asking Alexandria co-headlining the tour. I have yet to be able to see them, and hearing they had to drop off the tour was disappointing to probably more people than just myself. However, the rest of the bands made sure to bring all the energy they had to make up for fans that felt they may be missing out. Nothing More continues to be a standout act in the hard rock scene. The energy every member of this band brings to the stage is hard for any other band to match. Atreyu continues to be a solid metalcore act in the scene that plays a solid set night after night. Eva Under Fire was a gem in the rough to find and open this tour. These bands all came together to pack the House of Blues, and bring a night of rock back to Anaheim.

Coming out of So What! Fest, I knew it was going to be exciting jumping back into a photo pit at the House of Blues in Dallas. And what better way to do that than with the kings themselves in Bayside and Thrice with special guests, Anxious. I had seen Bayside before, but I knew I was in for a treat with Thrice. They’ve been at it for so long and I was stoked to just get back to it and enjoy some live music. Let’s dive right in.
Starting out the show were Connecticut natives, Anxious. Going in blind to their performance, I was intrigued as to what I was going to experience given they were on this tour. I was not let down in the slightest. They came out swinging with energy. You always have to wonder how the opener of the show will get things started and they didn’t hold back. Jumping around on stage and giving the people what they want. At one point, they brought out a couch while they were playing and the guys from Thrice and Bayside just sat down and drank while Anxious played. It was incredible. Stoked to see more from them!
Next up was Thrice. I was anxiously waiting for this one because of all the good things I heard about their performances and stage presence. Well, I wasn’t lied too, it was phenomenal. They gave it to us 100% of the time. The crowd was going insane. Jumping, singing, all of it. I knew I was at a good show the moment I heard the roaring of the fans. They played ALL the hits. I wish I could have been in the pit longer to take in more of the moment because it was incredible. I really enjoyed each moment of the set. I honestly can’t wait to see them roll through Dallas again.
Lastly the dudes in Bayside hit the stage. I was curious how they were going to compete with Thrice, but they came out and matched the same energy as Thrice. Co-headline tours are dope because you feel like you get two headlining performances. Bayside was 100% raw talent. I saw them quite a few years ago and it was almost like they didn’t skip a beat. Being at it 20 years, I was excited that they still gave it their all. Playing the hits, getting the crowd involved, and listening to some pure rock music was hat Bayside brought to the stage. Fantastic performance, and a fantastic time at yet another rock show.
Dallas was the end of the tour so I guess you can say they saved the best city for last!
Xavier Wulf, Eddy Baker, Idontknowjeffrey, and Mikey Rotten have been zipping across the country since mid-April on the Midnight Club Tour: Dub Edition. The 29-date tour looked like one of the rawest, grittiest, adrenaline-fueled, genre-bending tours in the hip hop world today. Each of these artists not only push the boundaries on their own music, but are also frequent collaborators who have made a name for themselves with their live shows. Looking over the tour dates, I was stoked to see their second-to-last show of the two-month stretch was at The Novo in Los Angeles. This was one I needed to get a taste of live.
Opening after the tour DJ was Mikey Rotten. Out of all the artists on the bill, this was the one I was most interested in seeing live, and the last thing he did was disappoint. His music is a high-octane cocktail of rap, punk rock, and pure recklessness. Donned in tattered black clothing and blood red hair, the Louisiana-native set it off with a bang as he performed his unique style of music that defied the norm. Backed up by a guitarist, Mikey’s set was freckled with mosh pits and stage diving. When shooting shows, I’m typically comfortable in the photo pit. I have my spot; I’m aware of my surroundings. Everything’s in front of me. This time around, I had Mikey’s body parts flying in the air, photographers scrambling like mice, and the guitarist’s electric guitar cord constantly wrapping around people. It was pure chaos, and I loved every second of it. Despite it being primarily a rap show, the crowd also really bought into Mikey Rotten’s punk rock vocal style and energy. In classic punk rock fashion, Mikey and his guitarist wrapped up the set by smashing their guitar against the stage floor.
Idontknowjeffrey took to the stage shortly after. The disrespectful MC reeled it right back to a more traditional but still grim style of hip hop. He took the crowd on a lyrical journey as he rapped over a slew of very dark trap beats. After about 25 minutes, Idontknowjeffrey was joined by Eddy Baker, Mikey Rotten, and finally Xavier Wulf. To songs like “The Manager” and “Hoonigan”, Xavier Wulf reminded the crowd why he’s one of the best at this style of hip hop. Mikey Rotten, Eddy Baker, and Idontknowjeffrey took turns weaving their own material in and out of Xavier Wulf’s setlist. Since they’ve worked together over the years, it felt natural the way they entwined each other’s features into their own sets. I really enjoyed this style of performing because it gave the audience a sample of each artist’s catalog throughout the night. It never got stale. Additionally, Bones hit the stage in a surprise appearance and played songs like “Airplane Mode” and “RedAlert”. The fans completely lost their mind to this Seshhollowwaterboyz throwback. They were happy to see that Bones hung around picking up a few songs of his own throughout the main set before they finally hung it up for the night.
The Midnight Club Tour: Dub Edition was one for the books. As I write, the gang’s finishing their last show in San Diego. I’m glad I was able to catch the tail end of this. The artists on this bill are without a doubt the kings of the underground, architects of this hip-hop counterculture, and serve as the dark underbelly of rap music. If we’re lucky enough to get another run of this tour and you have an interest in the edgier rawer form of hip hop, you need to add this to your to-see list. Wear comfortable shoes and hold onto your hat. It’s a wild one!
The intoxicating synthesized electro rock heavy beats of Jimkata swirled all around the dance floor of the iconic Wonder Bar on Thursday night. The long awaited return of Jimkata to Asbury Park had finally come to an end. Formed in 2005 by middle school buddies Evan Friedell (guitar/vocals), Aaron Gorsch (synth/guitar/vocals), and Packy Lunn (drums/vocals), these cats combine inspiring vibes and lyrics, upbeat funky dance beats, along with synthy hooks and big guitars to create their unique blend of what I can only describe as a musical and spiritual journey.
The crowd's anticipation was palpable and they erupted into screams and cheers when they took the stage. After a four year long hiatus, the band's faithful have been itching for the live experience only Jimkata can deliver, and they got exactly what they paid their hard earned money to see. The first heavy beats from Packy's electronic drum machine started the hook for "Wild Ride" and we were off and running. The mixture of all the band's influences are on full display and the organic chemistry of the guys in their element is unmatched. Smiles all around on stage as they witnessed everyone singing along to their infectious pop hook.
"Wanna Go" off their new album was next. The songwriting skills of Evan is unparalleled and really entices the fans to think and feel, experience life and not let anything slow you down. "Feelin Light" is the song that started my Jimkata story, suggested to me by one of my best buds Paul Giza. This song got me hooked the moment I heard it, and I have been a fan ever since. This has everything you need in a song, positive up beat lyrics, put in a blender with funky heavy beats, synthesizers galor and hard rocking guitars, mixed to perfection:
"I remember hearin rock ‘n roll feeling on top, Like there wasn’t nothing that could stop it, No shattered glass could keep my feet from movin', And it brought the light in through the window, Give me that rock feelin so high no ceiling I feel in light, And when the dark night is comin', We feel in light"
My dance shoes were also ready for "Night Shade". This upbeat tune has that catchy pop vibe, mixed with their signature synth rock style. The crowd was jumping around and couldn't get enough. "Ride the Wave" has a little darker and edgier sound to it, and is an example of the band's diversity and is not a one trick pony. It still has the classic Jimkata sound, but also adds a more hard rock sound and lyrics. One of my all time favs, "Die Digital" the title track of the bands 3rd album, blew the audience's minds. This song is a musical masterpiece that brings you on a spiritual journey with some incredibly uplifting lyrics:
"Cause all the best things seem to surface after the worst times, All the worst things seem to come around after the best time, Lose your patience, lose your past, post the present and make it fast, And die digital."
"Jumping out of Airplanes" was up next, each one of the songs on the setlist flows into the next, it's like a rollercoaster you don't ever want to get off, and you keep getting back in line for more. "Weight of Paradise" is another one off the new album written during the pandemic when the band reunited. Evan and Packy had moved to the Los Angeles area and began making music again. These songs are now part of the Jimkata history, added to the humble beginnings back in Ithaca, in upstate NY, playing local house parties and small clubs. The band's unique style can not be compared to any other, the beats, the grooves, mixed with raging guitar solos and synthesizers is something you have to see live and experience for yourself.
As the show progressed we were blessed to hear the title track off the new album "Bonfires". This one has it all, with a message that is so inspiring and uplifting. Reminiscing on old times good and bad, Evan came up with this tune, spreading the positive vibes of understanding we all have a past, somethings we like, somethings we don't, but tomorrow is a brighter day and to never give up. "Bonfires" the song and album are a testament to the bands persistence to keep going and rise from the ashes like a phoenix.
The band encored the show with two songs that mean so much to all the Jimkata faithful, first was "Sweet Glory" which I can only describe as going to church. It is an upbeat spiritual spectacle, which sends chills down your spine and you can feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up:
"Sweet Glory coming down to take me off the ground. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm not going Down"
And finally was "Release" This song has a real rockin' vibe to it, and really allows members of this power trio to shine. It's rock and roll with a Jimkata twist, so you know the beats are funky, the synthesizers are synthing and the guitars are screaming. What a way to end the night, just a straight electro rock anthem, and left the crowd shouting 'More, More, More'
Jimkata puts on a live musical experience that leaves you feeling alive, free, inspired, and with an ear to ear grin on your face. Evan, Packy, and Aaron deliver the goods, with so many unique blends of jamtronica, funk, electro rock, and synthy grooves, the dance party can't stop. Here is a link to their website to find out all the info you need about them and all their upcoming shows. I highly recommend going through the band's catalog. Every album is life changing music. When these guys come to your town, be sure to come out to a show, you wont be disappointed. Trust me when I say Jimkata is a Can't Miss!

A living music legend rolled into town last week and delivered exactly what the sold out Belly Up Tavern music fans wanted – a fantastic night of old school rock n’ roll. Mike Campbell, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee as a member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, is proving rock and roll is alive and well with his fantastic band Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs. The upbeat guitar-driving blues, southern rock, and country Americana vibes truly showcase Campbell’s talents as a songwriter and guitarist. But they also carry on the spirit and celebration of the late great Tom Petty. If you love Tom Petty, then I can guarantee you will love what Mike Campbell is doing with his Dirty Knobs project.
Campbell started his side band project over twenty years ago with guitarist Jason Sinay, bassist Lance Morrison, and drummer Matt Laug. In a 2001 Rolling Stone interview, Campbell described the Knobs as,”…rougher-edged [than Petty’s material] …slightly over-driven, less polished, lots of Sixties influence…It’s something I probably should have done a long time ago, but I didn’t ’cause I was wrapped up in the Heartbreakers.” The Knobs debut album Wreckless Abandon was released in 2020 but COVID deterred opportunities to tour. Now on tour supporting the release of their outstanding sophomore record External Combustion, the band finally has their chance to perform their original tunes live, bringing their tunes to life for excited audiences around the world.
The Belly Up live set started with an announcement by Campbell that although original Heartbreaker drummer Stan Lynch had been filling in temporarily (regular drummer Laug had prior commitments in Europe), Lynch was “under the weather but gonna be okay”. Instead of cancelling the gig, Campbell proudly introduced Phil Jones was filling in! Jones performed with Campbell on Petty’s solo album Full Moon Fever (1989) that included memorable classics “Running Down a Dream”, “Free Fallin”, and “I Won’t Back Down”.
Although the band kicked off the night off with “Running Down a Dream”, the setlist mostly highlighted the Knobs excellent original material. Favorites off the new album were the catchy up-tempo rocker “Wicked Mind”, “External Combustion” conjured up a bluesy Led Zeppelin feel, “Dirty Job” with a driving AC/DC riff, and “Brigitte Bardot” was a swamp stomping banjo boogie with a “Folsom Prison” type beat. Another fun moment was the hilarious light-hearted tune off the first album “Fuck That Guy” (check out the great video) with the audience yelling the callback “Fuck That Guy!”.
Then for the ultimate special surprise – Joining the band for the encore was none other than original Heartbreaker bassist and San Diego resident Ron Blair (1976-1981, 2002-2017)! The crowd went nuts as they jammed Petty favorites “Listen to Her Heart” and then “Fooled Again (I Don’t Like it)”. What a great show! My only regret was that Lynch’s illness prevented a grand reunion of all three original Heartbreakers. D’oh! But nonetheless, my heart is full of gratitude realizing how special it is to see our old school rock heroes still performing wonderful shows and creating new amazing music. Go check out Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs’ music catalog and look for a tour date near you!
