With almost 140k views and still counting, this music video of “Rack It Up” is loud and fiery. Loud in a sense where you are left with nothing but captivated by presence. Fiery not only was he rapping, but his eyes, hands and body were also dancing, on top of expressive camera movements speaking directly to you.

A little introduction for the unaware: This young hip hop artist is Christopher Nekeith Mitchell, aka Nekeith. Currently a student at the University of North Carolina, he is still performing in multiple venues to broaden his artistry. Raised in High Point, NC, Nekeith began his career at the age of 15, and released his first mixtape 'Unbelievable' in 2012 under the stage name of Newprettyboii.

Just in the past month, he released a 12-track album No Homophobia featuring top US Billboard artist Cardi B. She said in the Intro pinpointing the homophobic culture of hip hop, “what does being gay have to do with your talent?”, while Nekeith’s song “No Homophobia” acted as a reply to what she said. Kanye West was featured in the Interlude. He is totally stepping up the game of brutally provoking conversations about the LGBTQ community by stating Hip Hop being the opposite of “gay”.

We are interested in knowing what you think. Spare two minutes and rack it up. And comments below please!

Published in Random Fun

California wild fires continued to burn at the Hunnypot get-down. Hot Tub Johnnie started the spark, Michael Levine reinforced our reality with his life’s hard song selections. RahRah’s set saw the flames engulf the club, Georgi Kay had the lone wolfs howling. Kozze added pop fueled gas to the flames. Chanel & The Circus had us bouncing and fire walking over hot coals. Al K (Whoalk) closed out the live performances with introspective and inspirational rhymes. The Hot Tub dance party turned The Mint into Hunnypot’s own version of Burning Man.  10-16-2017

Founded in 2014, Men I Trust is a indie-dance band from Montreal, Canada who actually, produce, mix, and master their own music and direct their own music videos featuring simple, groovy rhythms that tap into our primal sense of rhythm.

In 2012, two of the founding members, Jessy and Dragos, brought in their eclectic musical knowledge (Dragos had a background in classical piano and Jessy in the ethereal art of metal guitar soloing) to create music that celebrated French-Touch / Italo–Disco.

And actually, Between 2012 and 2016, all of Jessy’s and Dragos’ releases were made as part of Dragos’ masters and (dropped) PhD studies in order to gain access to the LARC’s infrastructure and to develop a unique sound.

Emma, soon came on board, and it was a fortuitous encounter. In 2015 a mutual friend presented her to Dragos through a video posted over the Internet. She was casually singing and playing the guitar around a campfire with some of her friends. Emma’s voice was different, being less clear, more grainy and fragile with a mysterious twist that caught their attention. They reached her and tried recording one song called “Out in Myself”, which turned to be one of the band’s easiest to record.

Jessy and Dragos then invited her to join them on live shows with Odile at the beginning of 2015. The girls’ voices blended wonderfully together and the band got lots of positive feedback from the experience. Emma has been part of Men I Trust since then.

Now, the band releases their 2017 single "Tailwhip" which serves as an authentic, laid-back groove pusher and one that will definitely stick in your head.

Hunnypot Approved.

Today, Grammy®-nominated, multi-platinum, multi-billion-streaming artist Tove Lo releases the official video for her latest single, “Disco Tits.” This dance anthem is Hunnypot/Hot Tub Approved!

Directed by long-time collaborator Tim Erem (credits: Tove Lo’s “Fairy Dust;” “Moments”; Nick Jonas’ “Close” featuring Tove Lo; Rihanna’s “Work” featuring Drake; Major Lazer’s “Lean On” and more) and shot on location in the California desert, the video is a welcomed tongue-in-cheek take on a day-in-the-life-of the notorious provocateur and international superstar Tove Lo.

“Disco Tits” (out now) sees Tove Lo reuniting with The Struts, her long-time collaborators and the same production team behind “Cool Girl,” “Habits (Stay high)” and “Talking Body” and serves as the first taste of new music from BLUE LIPS [lady wood phase II] due later this year via Island Records. According to Tove Lo, "Disco Tits is about losing yourself with your new found love. Naive, excited, no consequences. The happiness in the haze I'm feelin right now."

Tove Lo is currently wrapping up her 2017 North American tour dates, which includes headline shows (with support by Atlanta rapper Daye Jack), appearances at Music Midtown festival both weekends of Austin City Limits, and dates supporting Coldplay in the U.S and Canada. Stateside, Tove Lo has been touring virtually non-stop since the release of her LADY WOOD album last fall, including well-received festival appearances at Coachella, Governor’s Ball, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and Outside Lands.

The release of “Disco Tits” follows up the recent world premiere of Fire Fade, the brand new 21-minute film starring Tove Lo, which incorporates five songs from her Top 10 album LADY WOOD: “Don’t Talk About It,” “Imaginary Friend,” “Keep It Simple,” “Flashes,” and “WTF Love Is.” Watch Fire Fade HERE.

Fire Fade is the epic follow up to Tove Lo’s critically acclaimed and controversial short film Fairy Dust, the raw and bold 31-minute film in which Tove Lo made her acting debut alongside “alter ego” co-star Lina Esco (Kingdom, Flaked).  Fairy Dust hailed by V magazine as “a raw, beautiful, and proudly provocative exploration of sexual desire, obsession, denial, and pain,” also incorporated five songs from LADY WOOD: “True Disaster,” “Influence,” “Lady Wood,” “Cool Girl,” and “Vibes.”

Michete Live

MICHETE

Combining venom-filled disses, crass sexual come-ons, and left-field pop culture references with an androgynous gender presentation that is equally inspired by glam rockers, anime villains, and drag queens, transfeminine rapper and producer Michete is on the fast track to becoming one of hip-hop’s most polarizing and exciting new acts. The dagger-tongued MC is unapologetically queer, delivering punchlines with a genderfluid braggadocio that sets Michete apart from her peers, frequently making listeners uncomfortable in the process. Drawing influence from a wide range of artists including Kanye West, Peaches, Nicki Minaj, and Kesha, Michete combines her unique lyrical stance and vocal demeanor with chintzy, economic, self-produced beats to create a sound that’s completely her own.

Growing up in Spokane Valley, WA (a city she describes as being a “cesspool of white nonsense”), Michete is a former theater kid who had a natural charisma and an unhealthy obsession with Lady Gaga, honing her performance skills by singing in talent shows, acting in plays, and performing improv comedy all throughout middle and high school. Michete began dabbling in music around the time she graduated high school in 2010, and in 2014, decided to make a serious commitment to pursuing a career as a rapper. Michete released her debut EP, Cool Tricks, in June of 2015, and received considerable attention and acclaim from journalists and listeners alike, securing a spot opening for recording artist Shamir in Seattle the following September and later appearing on SPIN Magazine’s year-end list of The 50 Best Hip-Hop Albums.

With the foundation set for a successful career, Michete plans on releasing the next volume of the Cool Tricks series this year.

Princess Vitarah

Princess Vitarah is a Nigerian-American rapper, singer, and songwriter. She was born in the United States but her family moved back to Nigeria to the family’s village in Arochukwu—when she was little, then she lived in Houston for a while before moving to Los Angeles in the summer of 2015 to pursue a musical career. Princess Vitarah began her career as a rapper by releasing material through the internet in late 2015. She earned public recognition after two of her songs, "Nigerian Pussy" and "I Want 20 Inch Dick", went viral on video sharing websites such as WorldStarHipHop and YouTube, receiving 3 million views on Facebook in the first day alone. Subsequently she has been featured in The Fader, Vice, and Noisey to name a few.

“The reason why I think [Nigerian P*ssy] got so big is because I am never afraid to be creative and more importantly I am not afraid to be bold” - Princess Vitarah

Her feminist and sexual lyrical content has gained her music much notoriety across West Africa, America, Europe, and other parts of the world. Her song "Nigerian Pussy" broke the record for most downloads in 24 hrs and was initially banned but now has more than 100,000 streams on Spotify. Princess Vitarah has been praised for opening doors for women concerning expression of sexuality and a writer for Pulse.ng wrote that, "Princess Vitarah goes head in on topics that chicks wouldn't be caught dead talking about in public before" and that she is paving the way for change and lots of women "raise their fists to it". With goals of becoming a top female artist throughout the African Diaspora and her music already playing on radios and clubs worldwide, Princess Vitarah’s reign has just begun.

Princess Nokia has released her self-directed, double-feature music video for slow, synthy, horn-backed tracks “Bart Simpson” and “Greenline.” Both songs are off her new album 1992 Deluxe, a combination of her previously released soundcloud mixtape by the same name and eight new songs including “G.O.A.T.,” “ABCs of New York,” and “Flava.”

Reenacting her high school experience, Destiny Frasqueri again steps into her “Tomboy” persona for “Bart Simpson,” clothed in either oversized cargo pants or a Slipnot t-shirt she says she stole from the boy who took her virginity. As always, Princess Nokia oozes sass throughout, smacking on some awfully sticky-seeming gum as she walks down her high school hallway and taking hefty swigs out of a tall can in a darkly lit New York apartment. Shots of the rapper getting pelted with dodgeballs are juxtaposed next to shots of her blatantly falling asleep in class to fearlessly kissing her friends and drunkenly reading the label of a Colt 40-oz beer. “Bart Simpson” tells the classic story of a high school student with her own secret life, but with the twist of Princess Nokia’s own personal brand of “New York mood.”

Moving away from Frasqueri’s distinctive story-telling directive style, the second half of the double feature is reminiscent of 90’s hip-hop music videos with a shot of Princess Nokia speaking directly to the audience through a fisheye lens threading together scenes of her romping about NYC. Between shots of her smoking cigarettes and flirting with another woman to pictures of her sitting wide legged and slouched on the New York subway, Frasqueri paints a picture of her day-to-day experience as a New Yorker--an experience that playfully pokes fun at established in-public etiquette. In general, the double feature shows a Princess Nokia that is perhaps more realistic to the life of Destiny Frasqueri--one that might not be as glamorous as she paints it in videos for “Flava” or “G.O.A.T.” but still uniquely carefree.
