Teenear brings some fresh flavor and fun to R&B/Pop. The video for "Streetlights," Teenear's new single for Slip-N-Slide Records, is all about young love and hot summer nights. "Let's just give it our all," says Teenear about the song. "Let's dance, have fun and enjoy the moment." The concept of the video was a collaboration between the director, Ikoneq, and Teenear.
With her Slip-N-Slide debut on the horizon, the Miami based singer and songwriter now stands primed to leave her mark on R&B/Pop. "I'm most excited for the fans to see and hear what I've been working on, my #TeeBirds mean the world to me!" The nineteen-year-old, multifaceted artist also counts dancing, acting, and advocacy among her repertoire of talents, and she's currently a full-time college student pursuing a business degree.
In 2007, Rob Dickinson did an acoustic set for us on Hunnypot Radio! Rob Dickinson is perhaps best known for his role as lead singer and guitarist of the band Catherine Wheel. Some of Rob's biggest hits with the 90's alternative band include Black Metallic, I Want to Touch You, and the song he sang for us, Crank! Rob Dickinson also released a solo album Fresh Wine for the Horses in 2005. Watch Rob Dickinson pour his heart out for Hunnypot Live in this awesome video! Shoutout to Lisa Goodwin for providing this cool clip!
Check out the video for Babymetal's new single "Karate!" Babymetal is a Japanese metal band, known also for their songs "Gimme Chocolate!!" and "Megitsune." Their line-up consists of Suzuka Nakamoto as "Su-metal", Yui Mizuno as "Yuimetal", and Moa Kikuchi as "Moametal." The band found their way to the US when their first studio album, BABYMETAL, made the US Billboard Chart. Since then, they have gone on tour with Lady Gaga in support of her "Artrave: The Artpop Ball" tour and headlined shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
The Belgian indie-rockband Amongster have just released a new single called "Teacher," as part of the announcement for their brand-new album that will be released in September. Directed by Joan Repiso, the video features a young woman being hunted in the forest by possibly the most surprising predator of all--herself. The song is decidedly unique, with syncopated drums and relaxed strings and vocals making it dreamy and eerie all at once. Thomas Oosterlynck, Jasper Maekelberg, Tom Soetaert, and Robbe Vekeman come together to give the band a sound that, according to them flirts "along the fringes of indie and electronica." Shoutout to Piet Bekaert for tipping us to this awesome band!
Sisters Holly and Coco Chant are Xylaroo, an alternative duo with a relaxing, inspirational, and positive sound. The group combines a thought-provoking, socially conscious musical message with harmonious vocal melodies that seemingly only siblings are capable of. Their second single ‘On My Way’ out now via Sunday Best/ PIAS is an upbeat melodic number which highlights their beautiful harmonies and songwriting skills, this is sure to be another smash. Similar to many bands, the pair (Holly aged 25, Coco 23) are a product of their own environment. What makes them totally at odds with everyone else, however, is that their environment has been constantly shifting since day one. You could say they've been “on the road” their whole lives, growing up in Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, The Philippines, United Kingdom, Switzerland and finally Sri Lanka before returning to London, where they are now based out of. This constant travel in addition to being siblings has, without a doubt, affected the band. “It's only in the last couple of years that we've considered ourselves a proper band,” says Coco. “When you're sisters you don't take yourselves as seriously. You play around in your living room.”
Xylaroo don't want the messaging of their songs to be set in one timeframe. Rather the themes they care about – love, humanity, philosophy, “conspiracy theories” – are ones that pervade every generation, not just theirs. While Holly's scholastic past makes her aware of political upheaval and social consciousness, she doesn't believe in using Xylaroo for preaching. “We want to write songs that make people think without telling them what to think. I'll read an article about racism and police brutality in America, for instance, and then we'll write about it. But it will be subtle" says Holly. 2016 Will be a big year for this upcoming unique act!
Raw throwback footage from the Hunnypot Party (6 Degrees of Hunnypot) at The Highlands Feb 25th, 2010! An undoubtedly awesome performance by Dev and the Cataracs! The Ruby Friedman Orchestra also played that night with Thomas Golubic (SuperMusicVision) as our guest DJ! You can see in the video Dev killed it right away starting with The Far East Movement's hit single "Like a G6"
Who remembers this legendary night and what was your favorite part?!
Go check out Dev's new single 'Lowkey' (single from her album set to drop later this year)
Hunnypot party alumni YG drops a brand new single featuring Drake and Kamaiyah. LA rap artist Keenon Jackson (also known as YG or Young Gangsta) began to develop a following through the internet. The tracks "She a Model" and "Aim Me" were successful online and led the rapper signing to DefJam in 2009, right around the time he played our Hunnypot party at The Highlands. Everyone knows Drake, but also working with YG for the first time is Kamaiyah a rising Oakland MC.
A little rough...a little raw...but here's an awesome #throwbackthursday of Far East Movement! Composed of the members Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif (not featured), and DJ Virman, Far East Movement is a Hip Hop-EDM group based in Los Angeles. The group is probably best known for their hit single "Like a G6" which made them the first Asian-American group to to earn a #1 on the Billboard Top 100. The clip is from one of our old Culver City house parties back in 2009. We've always had great artists! Check it out!
Check out SWMRS with their video "Figuring It Out"! Based out of Oakland, CA, SWMRS (formerly "Emily's Army") is currently on their second European Tour, this time with FIDLAR. In fact, their new album Drive North was actually produced by FIDLAR'S Zac Carper. The band is made up of brothers Cole and Max Becker on guitar and vocals, Joey Armstrong (son of Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong) on drums, and Seb Mueller on bass guitar. The genre Rolling Stone labeled "angsty garage rock" never sounded so good!

When Tiki Lewis moved to Los Angeles from Chicago, she had no idea she'd meet Johnny Burkes and they'd subsequently join forces together to make some of the most memorable music in the world today, but through a combination of vision, empathy, melody, and rhythm, their sound has evolved into just that. While curating an absolutely remarkable stable of collaborators, they have played live shows that have made a distinct mark on a town filled to bursting with others who have fallen short of that and conversely inspired people all over the world with their online audio and video presence.

Luke Top is best known for being the singer and co-founder of Fool’s Gold, a band that has enjoyed international acclaim for their unique blend of African dance music and New Wave pop stylings since 2009. His new release Suspect Highs is a step inward for the songwriter, resulting in his most personal collection of songs to date. It was self-produced during a period of relative isolation after several years of touring and being in bands full time.
The sound of the album itself is somehow familiar, yet can’t be ascribed to any particular era. There are subtle parallels to the world music touchstones of Fool’s Gold, but the music stands alone as something wholly new; a singular offering of intimately spun chamber-pop, constructed with lush arrangements and topped with Luke’s trademark melismatic croon.
Suspect Highs limited edition vinyl is now available via Org Music. Digital formats available for purchase and streaming via Grand Gallop.
Big Search is the ever-present alter ego of Matt Popieluch as he continues to make his way through Californian life, channeling the cross-currents of romance, upheaval, and casual adventure.
After over a decade of making music in various bands like Foreign Born, and assisting in bands Papercuts, Fools Gold, Glasser, Cass McCombs, Taken By Trees and Sky Ferreira, Big Search has been steadily uncovering the music being revealed to him in flow-states. After two albums and a number of singles including "Love In Return" which first appeared on season 2 of Maron, his upcoming album track "Please Do Not Explain" was included on the first compilation from Dangermouse's new label 30th Century Records. The full record, Life Dollars, will be released this Summer.
Things are happening fast for Los Angeles based MIDNIGHT DIVIDE. After nearly a year of writing sessions and toiling in three different studios, singer, songwriter and producer Austen Moret finally saw his indie/alternative project come to fruition with the band’s debut EP: Embrace The Wave on September 1st, 2015. The EP managed to crack the CMJ 200 at #149 in early October, receiving widespread national college and specialty radio airplay. The group also placed 2nd at the Hollywood Battle Of The Bands. Not a bad start.
The five track EP, which Austen wrote and produced took longer than expected but was well worth the wait. “I tried a lot of different ideas out for this record. It took forever to finally feel like I had arrived at the sound I wanted. I wanted a BIG band sound. Tribal drums, huge guitars, driving bass and electronics…I wanted people to hear it and say “damn…I need to hear this live”.”
For live performances, long time friends and live band members: Dan Beltran (lead guitar), Steve Robinson (bass) and Mike Aguado (rhythm guitar) joined Austen in April of 2015, along with Mark Colgrove (keys) in September. Sab Cahrunas (drums) joined in October 2015 to replace former percussionist Eddie Vyeda. Together, they provide the backing band so vital in bringing the songs to life.
The band is currently working on on their debut LP to release sometime in the Fall of 2016. Their current EP Embrace The Wave is available in all digital stores and in physical copy at shows. The band plays regularly in Los Angeles and surrounding area.
