We kicked off our very first Hunnypot Radio show at The Central: SAPC in Santa Monica last week 8/13/12 and it was jam packed! Huge thank you's to all who made it out it was a awesome show!
Hot Tub Johnnie started things up with a killer set of jams that included music from Xylos, Beat Club, Alt-J, The Bloody Beetroots, Jeff The Brotherhood, Teenage Bottlerocket, Prince Sole and many others. All new current tracks that y'all should check out! Also featured in Hot Tubs' set were 2 brand new cuts by our first performer of the night LA singer-songwriter Travis Raab, who previewed his new single "If She Could Only See Me Now" and the smoothly laced "He's From Outer-space".
Our industry guest DJ of the night was SESAC's, West Coast VP of Writer/Publisher Relations, James Leach. This was James' first time as a guest DJ, so he wanted to share with us a sampler of the music and artists that shaped his path into the music business. James prepared a monster set of classics with music from the Ramsey Lewis Trio, Steely Dan, Beetles, U2, Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim as well as many others.
DJ Boom Shack, closed out the first half of the show with a slammin' set of trap/swag bangers by Two-9 ft. FatKidsBrotha, YP, Legit, CBG (Chill Black Guys), Isaiah Toothtaker, Treated Crew and much more.
Kicking off the live performance half of the show was LA based rockers Epic Jam, spearheaded by lead singer/guitarist Travis Raab. Epic Jam set it off right, as they rocked out in costume with stylish long haired 80s wigs and solid white headbands. If you have the chance to see Epic Jam don't pas it up as you'll be dancing all night!
Hunnypot favorites and LA electro, dance party specialists Das Tapes and straight killed it during the second set. Das Tapes ignited a dance-floor eruption with their hard hitting electro pop beats. The Central was on fire as the boys performed cuts off their self-titled EP including "Black Ferrari", "This Party" and the crowd pleasing cover of Prince's "Kiss". If you haven't seen these two brothers kill it on stage - do yourself a favor and get out to their next show asap!!
HP always saves the best for last and rounding out our performances were LA urban, pop hit makers hUH (Have U Heard). This 3 piece collaborative project performed a smokin' set of their electronic based jams which included the standout cuts "Vampire Blood" and "Thalia" off their self titled full length LP. The group is lead by emcee/producer Aaron Mostow who is backed by the exceptional vocals of Noah Lowman and blended together by producer Devin Dilmore.
Our 244th Hunnypot Radio Sing-A-Long was "Teenage Dream" by Katy Perry!
