Colombian-American artist Kali Uchis just released a music video for her first single off her debut studio album. It may be her first album, but Uchis is no stranger to the music business. She’s already worked with Snoop Dogg, Juanes, Gorillaz, Tyler, the Creator, and more. Uchis has also toured with Leon Bridges. However, she heads out on her first headlining tour this fall with dates all across North America in support of her new album.
“Tyrant” features Jorja Smith in a video that looks like it came straight out of a museum of modern art. Uchis co-directs all her own videos, and her fashion-design chops show in this one as “Tyrant” shows bold colors and trendy clothing. The video also features shots that mimic optical illusions, utilizing physical screens, green screens, the aforementioned bright colors and clothing, and a kaleidoscopic montage that mirrors Uchi’s lyrics.
