Esbie Fonte

ESBIE FONTE

Fonte paves her own lane in the music world with her cinematic & dark but energetic sound. The hypnotizing "Here Lies" is all that and more. What starts off as a chant-like song evolves into a masterfully produced track.

Fonte recently released her single "Veins," a self-reflective track with a unique pop sound. Buzzbands LA says, "Esbie Fonte makes synth-pop for funereal dream sequences that dissolve from vivid and confrontational to dark and mysterious." Fonte explains, "'Veins' is holding a mirror up to your soul and being honest about the reflection staring back at you."

Esbie's previously released "Rosie" won the attention of The 405 who said, "Sparse percussion and beats are coupled with her punctuated vocals in the verse, feeling the casting of a spell. The chorus being a play on 'Ring Around the Rosie' only draws you further into the night."

She also garnered praise from tastemakers including The Burning Ear, When The Horn Blows, Come Here Floyd, and more.

"Rosie" is otherworldly, cinematic, and sounds like a track straight out of an eerie horror film. There's an element of chaos, a ghostly anxiousness strung throughout the track that keeps you on your toes as well as a strong feeling of nostalgia as the familiar line "ashes, ashes, we all fall down" swirls in the background. A hypnotizing tempo reels you in and Esbie's haunting siren call keeps you around.

Her previously released "Aces High," garnered praise from notable publications like LA Weekly who says Esbie "bends unexpected styles to create unique pop music."  The track was spun on KCRW's Latest Show and reached #1 on Hype Machine's Popular Charts.

Esbie is just getting started. Check out the Cemetery Drive EP and the single "Here Lies?"

Rapper JohnBoyCool is a fast rising star within the Compton Hip Hop community - you can see him surrounded by his peers on the cover of Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp A Butterfly' album; he and his Pirate GVNG crew have been featured on Vice TV's "Noisey," as a straight up rap artist he's opened for acts like 2 Chainz - but for his latest project PLVNK (pronounced Plank) he wanted to explore other sounds and styles.

"Where I went to middle school, I had a bunch of rocker friends. I was listening to Blink 182, Nirvana. I always loved the sound of drums and guitars..."

A chance meeting led to a collab with Israeli singer Nachum Peterseil (frontman for Automatic Toys, an alt-rock group with a love of all things electronic.) Despite coming from completely different backgrounds and cultures, the two vocalists found that had a lot in common ("He literally survived wars...and I have my own stories to tell".)

After a series of successful live shows, plans were set in motion for writing sessions to continue that vibe. 'JB' brought in Joey Mora (a.k.a. 'The Klassiks', a maverick Hip Hop and Dance music producer), whilst Nachum drafted Automatic Toys drummer Sir Mal, a UK recording artist with a list of credits including Pete Yorn and Andy Allo.

"We've got the rapper telling his stories; this old-school, rocking lead vocalist from Israel, the hopeless romantic from London...from the beat, the producer - they're putting in what they've been through. Love and Life and Society. This music crosses boundaries...it's for Everybody, not just this or that community...different friends, kids, your Grandma!"

This Thursday night is going to be the party mothers warn you about with the line up being led by Hot Tub Johnnie followed by Katey Sagal And The Reluctant Apostels and Caleb Henry and the customs with Hot Tub Johnnie spinning in between and after the artists!. Dance party guaranteed!. Get the tickets here.

Katey Sagal And The Reluctant Apostles bring together the history of dozens of collaborations, hundreds of albums and thousands of concerts. The result is world-class musicianship and a shared instinct that infuses their connoisseur’s songbook of recordings with a confidence that only derives from years of high-level experience.

The band traces their roots back to the hit series SONS OF ANARCHY, where, as The Forest Rangers, they acted as the musical muse throughout the show’s 7 seasons. They began recording covers and original songs for the hit series; unknowingly, it was the start of something very unique and special.
But it’s a new day and with that comes a new band. So who exactly are THE RELUCTANT APOSTLES?

They are Davey Faragher (Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson) on bass and vocals, Phil Shenale (Tori Amos, Jane’s Addiction) on keys, Billy Harvey (Patty Griffin) on guitar and vocals, Michael Urbano (Cracker, Sheryl Crow) on drums, Bob Thiele, Jr. on vocals and guitar (Bonnie Raitt, Mavis & Pop Staples) and, of course, Katey Sagal, singing, playing guitar and percussion.

From the start, THE RELUCTANT APOSTLES decided to dedicate their sound to preserving the long lineage of great songs and records that they grew up with. To that end, the band performs only cover songs, bringing each member’s own individual experience to a carefully crafted repertoire of familiar and unfamiliar songs to which they have applied their own unique interpretations.
As evidenced on their debut recording, INTRODUCING THE RELUCTANT APOSTLES, the energy and vitality of the band is clearly on display. As for their live show, imagine all that, and multiply by 10!

Caleb Henry And The Customs

Caleb Henry is a Country Rock, Blues, and Americana artist from the Wild Wild West of California. Henry's music focuses on his real life experiences of love, loss, and things to come. Backed by his loyal gang of musicians known as "The Customs," Caleb Henry and The Customs go from town to town turning every stage into an energetic, and heartfelt home for those who like to live on the wild side.

Endgame Like Beckham: The children of Marvel superheroes defy their parent's wishes and start a soccer league. The Beyonder kidnaps them to Battleworld to compete against Kickers Inc. for a New Universe galactic trophy. None of this has anything to do with Hunnypot Live (4/29/19).

We do wage a not so Secret War on mediocrity though. Hot Tub Johnnie broke box office records for coolest opening set. Carolyn Richardson gave us her Supervisor origins story AND got onstage as Music Carolyn to give us Rhythms, Blues and pop hues. Natti Vogel opened his chest and poured his heart all over us with just a voice and a piano. Lauren Rocket blasted us with OG forces of pop music. Josephine Clark confidently commanded with clutch compositions. Memento reminded us why we asked him back to rap and the night closed with another famous Hunnypot Dance party.

Memento live384

MEMENTO

Combining the lush richness of a film score, the rhythm section of a rock band, and the introspective storytelling of underground rap, Memento is a hip-hop artist from the San Francisco Bay Area.

He loosely categorizes his music as “hip-hop with an indie rock sensibility” — meaning that he uses live instruments and records his vocals within a few takes to capture raw, genuine emotion. Memento avoids the use of studio trickery in order to achieve authenticity, and always believes that less is more.

He approaches his music with the mindset of a composer: he wants the instruments to say what the words are saying, without the words. In order to do this, he pays great attention to detail while crafting his melodies and rhythms. Once the instrumental can express the emotion on its own, Memento paints a picture through his stories, his emotions, and his observations, all while maintaining a brutal honesty.

Primal Kings

PRIMAL KINGS

Tapping the deepest roots of rock n roll, Primal Kings take your favorite audio dishes and deconstruct them, using the tastiest ingredients to create a flavor that is brand new and yet somehow familiar. Their debut, eponymous, record comes to the table awash in aromas of primitive grooves grown in dark, fertile tonal dirt, and gives us a generous helping of heartfelt reflections of lives well lived … warts and all. It excites the pallet while it satisfies like our most beloved comfort food.

Primal Kings was forged in the fires of a 5 year quest to create a full length, fully analog, LP. The journey began when indie, blues/roots/rock singer songwriter, Chris Wilson enlisted the help of veteran engineer/producer, Lenise Bent (Aja, Breakfast in America, Tusk, Autoamerican) to help him capture the raw energy of the band, then known as the Barrelhouse Kings, that had been wowing audiences in LA clubs. The lineup then included incendiary guitarist Jed Ojeda, thunderous drummer Paul Cassarino, and infinitely inventive bassist, Roger Upchurch, and it was this 4 piece unit that walked into Entourage Studios for a 2 and half day marathon session that yielded the primary tracks for the album.

What followed was the long journey toward completion of a fully realized record. Along the way, Wilson recruited his long time writing and performing partner, Scott Pontius, a strong analog engineer in his own right, to lend his musical, vocal, and technical talents to the cause. The journey was long and arduous, and some were lost along the way. Cutting tracks by hook or by crook, cobbling together gear, and even going so far as to weld together DIY plate reverb units, is not for the feint of heart; and in the end only Wilson, Bent, Upchurch, and Pontius remained. The result was the creation of Elsewhere Studios, and the birth of Primal Kings.

Now, armed with digital masters honed by Warren Sokol at Universal Mastering, Wilson, Upchurch and Pontius set out to retake the stage, as Primal Kings, in support of the album they have so lovingly fostered, and to raise the funds to complete their dream of pressing vinyl and releasing a truly analog LP. With a live show that channels the raw energy that sparked it all, while faithfully representing their carefully crafted debut album, Primal Kings shows will leave you simultaneously satisfied, and craving more.

Although "Fashion Slayer" begins with some very sparse acoustic guitar from the second that this duo starts to sing you recognize there is nothing remotely folky about this music. The group self-categorizes as soul, which is also the identification of another artist I could not help but compare Hannah Eggen to, that is soul singer Macy Gray. Like Macy the vocals here are not common but rather really authentic. Despite vocal similarities you can not deny that this unique duo also including Gianluca Gibbons is staying true to their own original styles and its obvious that they aren't trying to replicate or impersonate any other artist. "Fresh, and we're here to stay" is a lyric within "Fashion Slayer," and indeed that HEЯITAGE is and will continue to be if they consistently attempt honoring their message which really speaks to being yourself. Product endorsement kind of makes me cringe whenever I hear it in rap music but in this circumstance it comes across as both charming and clever, mostly due to the lyrics but also in part to the music video that is something of a fashion shoot. The product placement being so central to the song makes it catchy and I found "Fashion Slayer" worth repeated listening. If you want to hear HEЯITAGE yourself and live, save the date May 13th as HEЯITAGE joins the Hunnypot Live party on stage.
