"Would you just watch the hair!?" - Tony Manero
Hunnypot's own Baron Von Luxxury has put out remix of the iconic Bee Gees Night Fever song and it is killin' it on the dance floor! The accompanying video is a short clip of Tony Manero (John Travolta) combing his hair that has been slowed down to the absolute slowest speed possible almost to the point of uncomfortable humor. It's simple brilliance. Also, you cant help but reminisce of how god damn sexy Travolta used to be.

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew dropped another fantastic show last week at The Mint. Hot Tub played some of his top favorites from Go Wolf, Polaris Rose, Chela, Holy Ghost and many more.
LA tastemaker, Shane Carpenter of All Scene Eye joined us for a special interview and handpicked dj set. Shane curated an exceptional collection of his top jams, featured cuts from Races, LA Font (playing HPR 12/16), Body Parts, Mr Elevator & the Brain Hotel and much more. stay up-to-date with all his latest happenings at https://facebook.com/AllSceneEye.
Kicking off the live performances were LA based rock band Black Belt Karate. Despite being short a member BBK powered on with a blistering acoustic set of tracks off their current EP titled Volume 1.
LA's own, Adult Cinema took to the stage next and blew us away with their infectious hooks of soul and rockin' disco beats. They brought a killer garage rock sound that is late 70s punk rock worthy and topped it with dashes of new wave and power pop that had us all moving and grooving all night. We highly recommend listening back to their smokin' set.
Closing out the show was none other than LA based alt-folk rockers, A House For Lions. AHFL jumped to the stage with a robust rock sound layered with soothing melodies that is reminiscent of the 90s rock we all know and love. Be sure to sit back and replay A House For Lions' exceptional Hunnypot performance. For all the latest updates on music, shows and more, follow AHFL at https://facebook.com/ahouseforlions.

Shane Carpenter came to LA 4 years ago and fell in love with the music scene. At a show early in his LA stay, he was inspired to change his focus from art to music. In and around music, he has created LA Phun, blogged for LA Record, and booked shows at Hear Gallery. Most recently, Carpenter’s been one of the co-creators of LA’s All Scene Eye; a collective designed to represent the different arts communities that its founders are invested in. All Scene Eye hosts a free monthly event at the Virgil the first Tuesday of every month.
Black Belt Karate formed in summer 2012 after one-time bandmates Mezilis and Hanifl reconnected, after a previous stint in LA indie rock band Your Horrible Smile. The quartet is rounded out by bassist Harry Anthony Ostrem and drummer Ryan Brown – both veterans of countless stage, film and studio work who have recently collaborated with members of Guns N’ Roses, Rush and David Bowie. The band released their debut EP "Volume 1" [Organic Audio / BFM Digital] on April 23, 2013. Black Belt Karate is produced, recorded and mixed by Jason Achilles Mezilis at Organic Audio Recorders, LA - all tracks mastered by Mike Houge.
L.A.-based garage-rockers Adult Cinema carbon-date to the late 1970s, when punk rock was morphing into a thing called new wave and power-pop bands were adapting their infectious hooks to soul and disco beats. Enormous fun at the time, and just as exhiliarating the way singer-guitarist Randy Michael and his quintet are doing it now. Michael didn’t just pop out of a loft in Hollywood — he has a long resumé that includes stints in Atlanta’s mod revivalists The Booze, along with gigs playing for Public Enemy, Butch Walker and London’s Joe Lean & the Jing Jang Jong. Now relocated to L.A., Michael has also stood in with Tin Nordwind’s Pyrramids and St. Louis punkers Living Things. (And he cameos as drummer in two of the new David Bowie videos.) Adult Cinema is a coed affair, including Kristin Brokaw (last spotted playing in Rocket), Katy Keys (Crimson Lust), Bosh Berlin (Living Things/Pyrramids) and Andy Moreno (Babylon Sweethearts).
Daniel Norman, singer/songwriter of A House for Lions, was a music lover who never intended to become a musician. But while hitchhiking through Germany, a melody and a few words popped into his head and never left. In that moment, he realized it might be possible to get off of the fence and create a project of his own; at least, it would be fun to try. In early 2010 he found an unlikely group of strangers, adding guitarist and designer Mike Nissen, bass player Eric McCann and drummer Joe Luisi, A House for Lions has developed a sound that according to The Deli Magazine “manages to blend the sleeker side of angsty 90s rock with the laid-back instrumentation and heart-string pulling melodies you might expect from an alt-country band”.

It’s almost Halloween so you may not recognize him without the bunny costume (hope I didn’t spoil it for anybody), James Duval stars in Black Belt Karate’s official music video for Building Walls. The video is a little sci-fi and bit creepy and features a glowing golden ball, clones and clone girlfriends with violent tendencies. In promotion of their debut EP “Volume 1,” Black Belt Karate will be performing live for Hunnypot Radio on November 4th at The Mint at the 9:30 spot. Don’t miss your chance to see these true badass rockers for free! No cover/no list. See you Monday!

Jack Littman is a prolific multi-instrumentalist writer-singer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Jack blends synths, loops, and Kaoss Pad beats with acoustic guitar and his powerful baritone. Add to this his considerable storytelling ability, and the result is a style that is difficult if not impossible to pigeon-hole. Jack’s songs cover all stages of relationships, politics, and gettin’ funky. He has played with the likes of Tapes N Tapes, Avi Buffalo, Robert Francis and Busdriver and has just returned from a month long-tour of the Southwest preceded by a five week US tour, playing four FMLY festivals, and legendary venues such as Trunk Space in Arizona and the Knitting Factory Brooklyn. Jack’s newest release, The Remedy, Vol. 1, was released as a download on February 26th, 2013. His previous EP, The Mixtape, garnered positive response across the blogosphere. Phoenix-based group of over 6 years defines their sound as “Desert Soul,” beat-driven and meaningful, their unique music has been compared to Bill Withers, The Meters and Erykah Badu. Fronted by vocalist Emma Pew, BLACK CARL has a live power all its own, while Pew’s confident vocal dynamics range from sentinel to breakable–a modern, white Nina Simone.
BLACK CARL has independently released several records, including a self-titled EP Black Carl (2007), their first full-length Borrowed (2009), a series of 7” vinyl EPs titled The Chariot (2011), The Hanged Man and The Magician (2011) and The Fool (2012), and a second full-length record The Wheel (2013).
BLACK CARL believes in making music that hits hard and is driven by their friendship and shared desire to connect with an audience through their songs.

“We were discovered in Williamsburg before it was Williamsburg,” says Heather Reid about her first record deal. Since that time as one half of iconic gay alt-rock band The Murmurs, Heather has been in two other bands, written a musical that went into development in London’s West End, co-wrote a Gold-selling single for Shakira, and became a mom. Yet only now is Heather releasing her first solo project independently.
Her independence has been hard-won and well-earned – a classic tale of the music business. At the height of her success with The Murmurs, Heather was singing on stage with Sarah McLachlan and Emmylou Harris at the Lilith Fair. Meanwhile, however, the band’s label was reshuffling, meaning despite their success and the promises made about promoting their next album, The Murmurs were without a record deal. Undeterred, Heather and her Murmurs bandmate Leisha Hailey formed a new group, Gush, and later Heather started her own band, Redcar.
Taking a break from the kind of songwriting she’s done traditionally, Heather pushed her creative boundaries writing Dear Bernard, a musical about love and the search for fame in 1970s New York. It ran for 24 performances in 2004 in Los Angeles before moving to London to be developed for the West End. The show ignited a passion for a new kind of writing for Heather, one where she could tell stories beyond her own experience and create a lively fantasy world (with dancers and backup singers too).
However, on Cross Words, her new album, Heather herself is front and center as a solo artist. It’s a record about heartbreak for sure, but not about feeling sorry for yourself. “It’s about owning my own role in the heartbreak and finding joy in the process of falling and getting back up again,” says Heather.

Workers of the World Unite showcases how passionate these New York based rockers really are. This is an empowering protest folk anthem. The stripped down video accompanies this feel and was filmed in an abandoned shack and flashes images of hard-working farmers.
Just signed with Epic Records and finished a tour throughout Europe and a Los Angeles residency, The Last Internationale is keeping up with their successful busy schedule and joining Hunnypot for our Hollywood Reporter/Billboard Film & TV Music Conference Party. Expect big things for them in 2014 with their Major Label debut. The last Internationale will be playing the 10:15 spot on the main stage. There is no cover, no list and one hellova lineup!

LA based industry tastemaker, John Lambremont (Kill Rock Stars and Shot Clock Management) joined Hot Tub for a special sit down interview and DJ Set. John prepared a handpicked collection of his favorite tunes at the moment including new gems from breaking artists - Hands, Haerts, NO, Body Parts and a few other artists we will all be hearing about very soon.
Boston based soul rocker, Jesse Dee was the first artist to take the stage and boy did he deliver. Jesse rocked out many of the standout cuts off his new album, On My Mind / In My Heart out now via Alligator Records.
Hitting the stage next was LA based rockers, The Bixby Dolls. This LA quartet lead by Curt Barlage performed a high energy 60s garage rock infused set, playing tunes off their 2012 release, Near & Undear as well as new tunes.
Closing out the show was LA rap collective, Psych Ward Druggies. Making a name in the area with their intense pop-up shows, Psych Ward Druggies hit the stage and completely rocked out with a high energy performance of songs like "Respect The Shooter" and their current club single banger "Pop It For A Player".
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! If you missed the show or just want more, you can listen back to all the performances and DJ sets at the link below…

It took a mad scientist to make it happen. After working with a talented collection
Yet this would be no normal group. It would be called Psych Ward Druggies and would have a specific mission. “He explained the concept to us,” says Golden Boy, one of the nine members of the crew. “That the world is a psych ward and we’re all drugged up by our society.”
