Doja Cat has released a new remix of her single “Juicy” featuring none other than Tyga. A typically vibrant cut from the Los Angeles-based rapper, “Juicy” also happens to fit well within Tyga’s wheelhouse of raunchy rap anthems. The song already slapped before Tyga hopped on it.

Doja Cat threw "Juicy" onto the deluxe version of her 2018 Amala album this year. The James Begert-directed clip is a vividly colorful one, as the "Mooo!" artist dons various outfits to match all of her favorite fruits such as bananas, cherries, and watermelon. Even in the midst of promoting healthy eating, her wardrobe changes are still oozing with sex appeal.

We love this single. Therefore, enjoy this official Hunnypot video pick.

The name Channel Tres sounds like a perfume doesn’t it? But it is not I can assure you. Channel Tres the rookie rapper from Compton has a promising, but challenging career ahead of him; that’s a certainty with bangers like “Controller” and “Brilliant N***a “. With his background knowledge in music, which he studied at the University of Oklahoma it really contrived new insight in how to craft his work.

His single “Sexy black Timberlake” pretty catchy title, right? Is guaranteed to get you on the dance floor at any dance club in L.A. Imagine listening to this song while on molly or something, (which I don’t consent to) and not having a good time. The music video for this dank banger has soothing aesthetics and amazing choreography, accompanied with great camera work on locations any L.A native might recognize. In one scene he’s shown dancing with the backup dancers on a metro terminal in the freeway and the whole way it was shot was perfect, maybe it's just me.

Creative and with a killer opener to “Sexy Black Timberlake”, Channel Tres an underrated modern rapper brings a plethora of new sounds into the song with different camera techniques utilized in the video that makes it unique to other rappers of this generation. It’s a smooth song that most of his audience cannot fathom why he’s not heard of more in the rap community.

Louis Prima Jr. and the Witnesses are coming back to hellfire, sunny Los Angeles, California next month through September 13 - 15, at Cacida and Saint Rocke in beautiful Hermosa Beach, CA. Get the tickets at the links below.

Cacida Restaurant and Club - Friday Sept. 13

Saint Rocke - Sunday Sept. 15

Originally formed in 2007, Louis Prima Jr. and the Witnesses began to hit full stride at their breakout performance in the 2010, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. They’ve toured from Los Angeles to Sicily and shared the stage with talented artists including Aretha Franklin and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Impatiently waiting to show the world what mayhem could come from the collective talents and years of diverse musical experience that make up the whole of its members. If you’ve seen them in concert, you’ll know what to expect from the musical minds of the Witnesses. As energetic and over-the-top as their live shows go, "BLOW" continues the ever-changing musical journey that Prima Sr. began in the 30’s. A different kind of musical dawn is awaiting to emanate with flashes of simmering soul and swaggering rock ‘n’ roll as Louis Prima Jr. and The Witnesses prepare to ignite a new legacy with their second full-length album "BLOW," out now on Warrior Records/Universal Music Distribution. With "Blow" LPJ and the Witnesses revive a boogie woogie spirit for the modern generation. “The message is to have a good time and enjoy life,” explains Prima. ”Get up and move. This album is hyper. It makes you want to dance.” Not content to sit on the legacy they so passionately protect, LPJ and the band are taking a page from his father’s playbook, by wailing “Prima-Style” like its 2014.

Building off of the success of their critically acclaimed debut CD Return of the Wildest!, Prima and the Witnesses immersed themselves in writing original music for the first time together and headed into the studio with co-producer and Warrior Records C.E.O. Jim Ervin. Recorded at Capitol Records in Studio B where Louis Prima Sr. recorded his hits of the 50’s and 60’s, the seriousness of this music is masked only by how galvanizing it was making it. The outcome is a host of creative, innovative new material as eclectic and unique as each member of this powerhouse band, plus revved-up versions of Adam Ant’s "Goody Two Shoes" and Louis Prima Sr.’s "Robin Hood".  Prima also sneaks in a vocal and trumpet duet with his father on "That’s My Home," utilizing Prima Srs.' original vocal/trumpet solo from the 1959 recording combined with a new music track created by LP Jr. and the Witnesses. The Louis Armstrong cover bridges the gap between family generations as it rises into a heartfelt and hypnotic tribute to his father reflecting a loving homage to the city they both adore. But it’s on songs like first single "Go Let’s Go", the musical party "I Just Wanna Have Fun" and the soulfully explosive "Fame And Glory" that the band’s uniqueness shines through. The result of blending the skills of these musicians is a blistering assault on your senses that will make you shout out loud and get up and move. His offspring and predecessor Prima Jr. has a lot to live up to; sharing a name with his celebrated father, but a new legend is being born and it’s about to BLOW you away.

We have experienced our fair share of unusual songs and music videos that leaves us scratching our heads and we often think “How is this a hit single,” but it is either way and especially on platforms like YouTube; it goes on making more than a million views on any social media site. Y2K and bbno$ have done exactly that with their single “Lalala”.

Their single “Lalala” is a great catchy beat like any other rap song nowadays; it really reminds you how cold Canada is when you start singing along to the lyrics and it encourages to stay in California, and not get cold nips from the great white north, but I digress. Aesthetically the video is awesome Y2K and bbno$ both really bring out nerdy white guy look whence rapping in a make-believe kids environment. The puppets appearing in the video stole the show because who doesn't want to see puppets rapping about Canada being cold and having Gucci on your body. It’s absolutely the perfect music video for a ride along with James Corden.

Lalala is almost reaching 2 million views on Youtube and counting. The targeted audience dig the tune; they get “Charlie and the Chocolate factory vibes” from listening to this video and that’s the greatest thing I’ve read in the comment section from this video. Even though the hilarious antics portrayed before us are amusing to watch they have something here. Y2K is creating dialogue among their fans that keeps them tuned in and him in the spotlight in some fashion. Lalala is out now and dare I say it’s a good song with a weird video.

Hunnypot Live sent a copper cassette tape with party music on a mission to the moon. At the last minute scientists loaded up a bunch of Tardigrades in the same shipment and that ship crash landed on the moon. Whatever happens to those Tardigrades, we know they'll be they'll be entertained immensely. Last night Hunnypot Live entertained the less "tardi" of the animal kingdom.  A party startup DJ set from Hot Tub Johnnie. Jessica Gramuglia gave an outstanding debut interview about her journey to music supervision and the music that got her there. Emma Charles played epic emotional rock and pop music. Cheer Up Club brown everyone down to their level of snarky puppy rock. Down North tore the roof, walls and floor off the place with funky progressive punk soul music. Chris Truent didn't cut his class or bars while rapping for us and Hot Tub cleaned up the night with another dance party.  (8/19/2019)

CheerUpClub

CHEER UP CLUB

Cheer Up Club are a clash of millennial ADDepression and the joyful nihilism of 90’s college radio. Like a broken funhouse mirror, they reflect a cracked and distorted image of whatever’s put in front of them. Loud, sarcastic, and fun, Cheer Up Club embrace an “anything goes” approach to songs that playfully skate between the sweet, cynical, and sincere.

From a distance, it’s a familiar story: Ethan Goodman (Guitar/Vocals), Nathan Espinoza (Drums), Will Gardner (Bass), and Hannah Stone (Synth) are four school friends bonded over music. They play some shows, make a record, etc. A closer look reveals something more akin to a roller-coaster careening through love, loss, joy, depression, and immigration politics. The result is Get Physical, the debut album from Cheer Up Club.

Based in Los Angeles, Cheer Up Club balance buoyant melodies with angular, effected guitars and snide, left-field lyrics. Pummeling drums drive fluid bass grooves, while psychedelic synths create splashes of color across their sound. Combining the snarling, energetic hooks of Buzzcocks with the Californian ramblings of Pavement, Cheer Up Club moves fast and hits hard.

Shamelessly, Cheer Up Club challenges common decency while maneuvering modern topics like mental health, sex and sexuality, addiction, and the tacky glitz of Los Angeles social politics. They shine a harsh light on things too-often swept under the rug, acting as the ugly voice in the subconscious that most people prefer to keep hidden. In doing so, Cheer Up Club brings fresh perspectives to the current dialog.

Their debut album Get Physical is colorful and layered, revealing more with each listen. Live, Cheer Up Club brings a party-punk energy to the stage, complete with balloons and the occasional bout of crossdressing. Cheer Up Club promises a good time, at home in headphones and live at your local dive bar.

“You ever heard of Jimmie Vaughan?”

That question started my morning out on the sand in front of the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel a week ago. A visiting couple was beyond ecstatic to tell me that they flew out to Hawaii with the sole purpose of watching Vaughan perform at Blue Note Hawaii. The blues legend was here for a two-show run.

As the lights went down that night in the venue, Jimmie Vaughan confidently stepped on stage with his slicked-back hair and trademark Tex-Mex Fender Strat in his hands. Accompanying him were Mike Flanigin on organ and Jason Corbiere on drums; veteran performers themselves, they rounded out the Jimmie Vaughan Trio, a musical powerhouse that hearkened a sound from a foregone era of Texas blues.

The night would pay homage to Vaughan’s life and legacy, and his own musical heroes that helped shape his career. With his band at his side, they played for over two hours with songs from Vaughan’s solo career, his previous band (The Fabulous Thunderbirds), as well as his favorite covers from decade’s past. Vaughan also took us back to a little spot called the Rome Inn in Austin, with a heartfelt rendition of the fan favorite, “Texas Flood,” in honor of his late brother, Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Before breaking into a cover of the Phil Upchurch classic, “You Can’t Sit Down,” Flanigin sat behind the keys and recalled tales of Vaughan’s childhood. How he would ride his bike to the local Dairy Queen with a quarter in hand to play the song on the jukebox five times in a row. Vaughan has always been about the spaces between notes. There was a moment when the lights dimmed, he put the guitar to his side, and sang the ballad, “I’m Still in Love with You,” from his latest album, Baby, Please Come Home. The song was dedicated to his wife, who was smiling ear-to-ear behind me in the audience. As an added surprise was the guest appearance of Sue Foley, a prolific blues singer and guitarist from Canada, who traded solos with the Trio using her pink Fender Strat.

Towards the end of the show, the Jimmie Vaughan Trio played homage to The Fabulous Thunderbirds with their classic hit, “The Crawl.” With the audience on their feet and singing along, Vaughan lifted that Strat behind his head and summoned a flurry of notes I didn’t believe was humanly possible.

Music lovers of all ages got up off their seats. Mothers danced with their daughters in the aisles and couples embraced, twirling each other hand-in-hand. It was proof that, even after five decades, Jimmie Vaughan still has that fire burning inside and notes that have yet to be played.  His Trio is no blues revival band, but a refreshing homage to a timeless genre sure to be playing for years to come. If the Jimmie Vaughan Trio is passing near your town (or even a string of remote islands a few thousand miles away), don’t miss it.

Welcome to Operator Music Band's "Mondo" in their new video and single.

The New York band just released their newest single "Mondo", with shades of art-pop experimentalism and electronic minimalism the dance-pop song blends the analog old sound with the newer digital ones. The video directed by Vanessa Castro translates perfectly all this elements presented in their music, bringing  a nostalgic 80's feel to it and a resemblance to the works of the band Kraftwerk.

The lyrics of "Mondo" deeply touched me because of the social critique it does to the modern world and mental health. We currently live in a world where money comes first and then our passions, in a world where we doubt our abilities and because of that many times is hard to move forward. So the band suggests you to "step back from time to time to critique your perspective on the subject" because it is "all a state of mind".

Being a concert photographer has its perks.  It also comes with a fair share of challenges that most fail to recognize.  Sure, we get up close and personal with our favorite bands for the first three, but in many cases are then rushed off to no man’s land where actually enjoying the show we are covering is challenging at best.  Fortunately for me, Saturday night’s show at Warehouse Live featuring Cinderella’s Tom Keifer was the exception to the rule.   Add in world-famous radio personality Eddie Trunk, and a great show gets catapulted to a whole new level. Let's go!

Kicking off Saturday’s show in Houston were Las Vegas natives (and rock and roll psychopaths) – the Electric Radio Kings.  A relatively new band, these guys kicked some major ass in ways I can’t begin to describe.  Their band was all rock and roll but featured an updated sound that seemed to transcend many different genres over the past 30 years.  ERK engaged the crowd from the very first note until their final bow and were the perfect fit for a Tom Keifer show.  These guys are incredible and well worth the price of admission on their own.

Now on to the main attraction, Cinderella’s Tom Keifer.  As on many occasions, I’m standing in the photo pit at Warehouse Live when I see Tom Keifer and the band making their way to the stage. The crowd goes crazy as the band huddled up for their pre-show ritual.  From the very beginning you could feel the calm before the storm that was just about to be unleashed on Houston. Even though the lights were dim you could see the confidence in Tom and his band - this was going to be good!

As of recent, Keifer seems to have a new-found energy that is literally infectious.  From the start of the show when the lights came on to the bands opening notes on “Touching the Devine”, fans in Houston could just feel it… Keifer was back and feeling better than ever.  Then just as the song came to an end, the familiar beginning of 1986’s “Night Songs” filled Warehouse Live and it was off to the races from that point forward.  After saying a few words and letting us know that “it was going to be a good night”, Keifer and company hit the gas and launched into one of my personal favs, “Coming Home”.

Keifer’s band was firing on all cylinders and were playing like they had something to prove (not to us but to themselves).  Most that have followed Cinderella know Tom has had some vocal issues in the past (including numerous throat surgeries where he was told he might never sing again). I am here to tell you that Keifer is proving them all wrong as he sounded better that ever.  The intensity he showed throughout the entire performance was so incredible. Tom put his heart & soul into an blistering 16-song set and it paid off in spades.  Throughout the evening, the band played a lot of classics including a debut of the first single off their latest album Rise - slated to drop on Sept 13th.  “The Death of Me” was plain badassery and I cannot wait to hear the whole album in its entirety.

While Keifer’s first album outside of Cinderella was a solo album, the forthcoming album is truly a group effort and Tom noted “everyone in the band plaid a part”.  And if Saturday’s band chemistry was any indication of things to come, fans are in for a real treat as this band is legit.   I loved this show for many reasons other than the fact that I’m a huge fan of Tom Keifer. The intensity that he showed after being in this business for 35 years+ was incredible and his voice said “IM BACK” to the legions of fans in attendance on Saturday night.  Keifer & Company was better than ever and performed like a well-oiled machine - everything just clicked.  This is definitely one show you don’t want to miss!

Skyxxx is showing off his "Hotboy" side on his new video.

Skyxxx's new super catchy song "Hotboy" is what the rapper calls "the bridge of classic rap and the new era", fusing timeless bars and the 21st century swagger. The video has a big influence of the modern hiphop but with a retro feel to it as well. In the video he dances through a hotel complete with throwback decor, surrounded by beautiful women as he declares, “I’m a hotboy,” with a whole lot of swagger and style.

The Orlando-based rapper is one of the newest additions to Warner Records, having "Hotboy" as his debut single on the lable. From corner battle rapping as a kid, and earning early viral success with “Bangk” in 2013 to the release of this sizzling new video singned by Warner Records.

Hunnypot approves this HOT new artist!

Skillet, the Christian metal band from Nashville, has been putting out inspiring and powerful music for decades now.  Since its inception in 1996, the band experimented with their sound at times, seemingly to find its place.  Grunge, Alternative, Electronic, and of course Hard Rock were all styles Skillet dabbled in over their history.   Their most recent release, “Victorious”, is a continuation of this strategy, only bigger.  For me, they have found themselves.

It took me a few spins to truly grasp what husband and wife duo John (lead vocals, bass) and Korey Cooper (keyboard, rhythm guitar, synthesizer, backing vocals), Jen Ledger (drummer, backing vocals), and Seth Morrison (rhythm guitar) have woven together this time around.  There is so much going on within each track that you find yourself being drawn to listen intently to absorb all they are offering here.

The album opens with a couple of motivational songs.  Upbeat, straightforward, and punchy, “Legendary” and “You Ain’t Ready” offer the idea of being the best you can.  Stoke that fire within you.  You are in control.  Both are primed to be classic crowd participation songs live and set the tone for what’s to follow.

As we proceed to the album’s title track, “Victorious” it emerges as one of the most intriguing of the lot, and one of my personal favorites.  Strings open the song, leading into a punchy electric rhythm slowly gains momentum as John begins delivering the lyrics.  Soon, this massive sonic boom of a chorus emerges, with John and Jen overlapping their vocals atop of this musical mountain they’ve created.  What’s interesting is as how uplifting this tune is musically, while the lyrics themselves are very different. Sung from the perspective of someone mired in depression, they’ve managed to combine a sad story, with a very musically uplifting tune.

The album continues with more powerful tunes, with some different flavors here and there.  “This is the Kingdom” has a bit of Imagine Dragons in it’s DNA, “Rise Up” barrels along with a Marylin Manson flavor, and “Never going Back”, a flat-out ass-kicker that will get all the fists in the crowd up for sure. The album finishes with “Back to Life” which could be the most traditional hard rock tune on this record.  It could have easily led off the record, but I find it sits nicely here a solid exclamation point and the end.

Strings, piano, soaring choruses, big drums, fat guitars; this record has something for any heavy music fan.  If you think you’ve heard Skillet before, you might be surprised where they are today.  I can say again, this is one big heavy album with something for everyone. You might find this is a surprisingly satisfying group of songs.  I did.

As always, rock on my friends!     Hunnypot Approved!     Overall Rating:  8.6 out of 10
