"When They Go Furlough We Get High Though" Hunnypot Live has been accused of shutting down governments before; Last night was a "'buster" Show #383 got off with Hot Tub's bubbling set of music. Tiffany Anders got in to the tub to talk about her career as a musician and music supervisor and dropped a set of forward feminism and just good jams. Little Monarch molted regal music on stage, Power Trip reconstructed hits into power gifts, Trubdr. Adam Road gave us international beats and blessings in a rock band, Lauren Lakis broke hearts (and almost gear) with her dark details, Alessandra Altieri pop'd and locked us in with her songs and performance and h2the closed the night with a super set of dance party music. A Los Angeles native, Tiffany Anders grew up with a lust for music, seeking out bands and attending live shows at a very early age. Her young enthusiasm eventually led her to a recording career of her own, singing backup at the age of 17 on Dinosaur Jr.’s album Where You Been, submitting a song for the heralded soundtrack to Allison Anders’ 1996 female singer-songwriter pop narrative Grace Of My Heart (for which she was also a music consultant), and cutting her 2001 solo debut album, Funny Cry Happy Gift, which was produced by rock icon PJ Harvey and released to critical acclaim. As a music supervisor, she’s worked on such films as Drake Doremus’ Like Crazy, Breathe In and Equals Michael James Johnson’s All The Wilderness, Malik Vitthal’s Imperial Dreams, Ry Russo Young’s Nobody Walks, and James Ponsoldt’s films Smashed, The End of the Tour and The Circle, as well as working on the critically acclaimed FXX television series You’re The Worst, and the upcoming period piece “Everything Sucks! for Netlfix.
Tiffany is also one of the founders and head curators of Los Angeles’ annual Don’t Knock The Rock film festival and has contributed over 500 album reviews for the largest independent record store in America, Amoeba Music. She has also contributed in-depth liner notes for the revered reissue record label Rev-Ola, for which she’s conducted interviews with Tommy James, Sweetwater, and F.J. McMahon.
Little Monarch is an LA based indie pop band whose debut self-titled EP has garnered viral success on Spotify with over 15 million streams since its 2016 release. The band consists of LA lifer Casey Kalmenson (vocals, guitar), Memphis-born Lanita Smith (vocals, keys), and Indiana native Justin Andres (guitar, bass). Little Monarch was formed when Casey found herself in the audience at one of Lanita's live performances and fell in love with her sound. The music is an unexpected blend of genres from soul to reggae. Little Monarch is currently in the studio writing for their next release and preparing for tour in 2018.

Trubdr. Adam Road is a Tel Aviv based musician whose music channels harmonic and rhythmic sounds of flamenco style guitar with a mix of indie, folk, rock and gypsy blues music. His music has caught the attention of prominent figures in music like 6-time Grammy Award winning producer (U2, Jason Mraz, Rolling ?Stones, Dave Matthews), Steve Lilywhite, who said that Trubdr. Adam Road is "as good as Hozier.”
He's been published twice in major publications such as "Time out" as being top "5" artists to watch out for from Israel following an acclaimed set at Tune In Tel Aviv.
A child of Baltimore, Lauren grew to embrace the fatalistic spirit of the city with an ever-present & fearless approach to her work & art. The hand-crafted rawness of her sound bellows deep & true, unscathed by the prevailing winds of today's polite rock. Lauren's persistence & growth in the Los Angeles scene can be attributed to her previous bands Hobart W Fink (vocals), Slow Coda (vocals & keys) , & LA Nova (vocals, keys, bass, programming). She's performed in such LA staples as The Echo, The Satellite, & The Mint; as well asEcho Park Rising & Make Music Pasadena.
Most recently, Lauren mounted a solo-performance in a 2017 SXSW showcase in Austin, TX. Her track Lead Us On has been featured on the M:M Music Meeting Volume 43 compilation album. She is currently playing shows locally in LA with her full band.
FEROCIOUS, her first full-length solo album, is a product of passion & experience folded with a recent personal tragedy. In collaboration with her Producer-Engineer Billy Burke, Lauren explores the full spectrum of the grieving process against a backdrop of shoe-gaze inspired guitars, haunting synth swells, deep-driving beats, & lyrics imparted with true candor. All instrumentals were written & performed by Lauren with the exception of AJ Brown on drums & additional guitars by Chris Garcia & Alex Stills. Mixing tasked to the talented Chris Kasitch (Adele [Grammy-winning], Phantogram, Cee Lo Green). Artwork by Alyssa Burke

h2the merges 80s synths and layered beats from producer Erez ‘Diwon' Safar (Bonhom, Dreams in Static, Tyrone Gosling, etc.), brought to life through dynamic visuals and sound.
URB Magazine wrote that “Safar is something else…in a profound kind of way,” calling his sound titillating and “juicy for the ears,” while The Village Voice described his productions as “adventurous and banging.”
2DOPEBOYZ and Vibe Magazine’s allhiphop.com have also noted h2the’s rap flips of 80?s inspired sonics. It’s the producer as auteur as every track takes you through the emotional space of the artist, like Kanye or Godard.
Bedroom politics is some dirty business.
"Imagine it choreographed. Casey Spooner rocking his mustache shirtless, featuring Chairlift vocalist Caroline Polachek, with special guests artist-DJ Juliana Huxtable and actor Juan Pablo Rahal.
Personal, honest and unconcealed homosexuality put right in front of the audience, just like Fischerspooner as always. Produced by Michael Stripe, SIR depicts the period after Spooner ended a 14-year relationship. "[Spooner] encouraged me to be more emotionally connected and to trust my voice... and fought for more raw vocal," Spooner stated at NPR Music. ""He was a mentor and a great friend who guided me through troubled times and captured my experience. He lifted me up at my lowest. This album is a document of that experience."
Boots, producer for Beyonce, Run The Jewels and Autolux, co-produced "Have Fun Tonight", and also sprinkled some magic dust for another 2 tracks.
Fischerspooner demonstrates to us music is about love. It is also about sweat, and tears, and struggle and lust and infatuation and heartbreaks. And rebirth.
A note for you: TopBrazil is just out. And oh, SF, LA and OC, make yourself available on March 14th, 15th and 16th. Party's on. Pre-game supplied in the video above.

Thank you to Michael Tullberg for writing a piece on Hunnypot Live radio stream in this months DJ Magazine. DJ Magazine is a monthly British based magazine dedicated to electronic dance music and DJs. DJ magazine is distributed in over 10 counties including the US, France, and Italy.
Hunnypot is honored to be featured next to 80's British TV comedy 'The Young Ones' about of four college students living together in a dingy London apartment. 'The Young Ones' introduced many viewers to Motorhead, The Damned, and Dexy's Midnight Runners. The full series is a Hot Tub Johnnie fav.
Noted L.A. Photographer and acclaimed electronic music photo journalist. In the book DANCEFLOOR THUNDERSTORM, Tullberg captured several years (1996-2002) of the vibrant rave scene for most of the country’s major dance music magazines, including URB, Mixer, BPM Culture and others. His work also crossed over into the mainstream media, including Rolling Stone, SPIN and the Los Angeles Times, and internationally in DJ Mag and Mixmag, at the time when raves thrust electronic music into the national spotlight and laid the groundwork for today’s incredibly successful EDM festival circuit.
Tullberg's article is transcribed below:
Hunnypot Internet Radio: One L.A.’s longtime dance music traditions, Hunnypot has been carving out its Internet radio niche for several years now. Helmed by “Hot Tub Johnnie” Anderson with frequent assistance from Jeff Gray, the show is a freewheeling fun base that features both DJ sets and live performances from wide variety of genres. It’s not unusual at all for the show to step beyond the boundaries of electronic music, featuring fresh talent from the rock, blues and jazz worlds. What sets Hunnypot apart from its competition is that it's broadcast live from The Mint, one of the city’s longest running blues clubs-which means that anyone in town can come on down and enjoy the festivities. The Regent in Downtown LA was in for a once in a lifetime gig on the night of January 6th, 2018. One of the most legendary names in the underground metal community as well as pioneers of thrash metal, crossover and extreme metal in general with a cult following, Nuclear Assault was the band set to headline the stage that night. Somewhere in between the show being announced and purchasing my ticket, I realized that this show would be unlike any other metal concert that I have ever attended. Not only does Nuclear Assault have a rabid fan-base that turns a concert into a contact sport, but this was both their farewell show for the west coast, as well as the first time the group has performed in Los Angeles in 28 years. That being said, you can only imagine how crazy the bands self proclaimed "final assault" was to witness in person.
The Show Your Scars X Fest was a day long festival with a stacked lineup of Thrash Metal, with headliners Nuclear Assault, Hirax, Evildead and Toxic Holocaust. Supported by local acts Expulsion (members of Exhumed and Repulsion), Thrown Into Exile, Pounder and BrainDead. Nuclear Assault is a thrash metal band from New York City formed in 1986 by ex- Anthrax bassist Dan Lilker. Lilker has also been a member of several side projects as well including crossover thrash band S.O.D. as well as Grindcore band Brutal Truth. Nuclear Assault's brand of thrash is built off of pure aggression and speed with a healthy dose of influence from the 80's New York Hardcore scene. Best known for their albums "Game Over" 1985 and "Handle With Care" 1987. Hirax is a thrash metal band formed in 1984 in Cypress, California by vocalist Katon W. De Pena, who is the group's only remaining original member. Their first two albums "Raging Violence" 1985 and "Hate, Fear and Power" 1986 are regarded as heavy influences on the thrash metal and crossover world. Toxic Holocaust is a thrash metal band formed in 1999 by multi-instrumentalist Joel Grind. Grind remains the only constant member of the band since their beginning nearly 20 years ago, however during that time, Grind recorded the first few Toxic Holocaust albums "Evil Never Dies" and "Hell on Earth" as a one man band, finding session musicians for tours. Eventually settling on a lineup that is seemingly constantly changing, and switching from guitar live over to bass. Toxic Holocaust displays a DIY philosophy that has won the respect of the underground. Evildead are a native LA thrash metal band formed in 1987, most famous for their album "Annihilation of Civilization" They have been making a comeback in recent months playing shows in the LA area and plan to release new music in 2018.
Nuclear Assault opened up the set with "Rise From The Ashes" from their album Survive from 1988 and it didn't take long for the crowd to start getting crazy for the main event. The entire night was filled with circle pits, crowd-surfing and stage-divers landing on top of other stage-divers. The bands energy seemed to feed off of the crowds relentless spirit, and vice versa. However things really kicked into high gear when the intro for one of the bands more well known songs "Critical Mass" began to play. This part of the concert seemed to be a flashback to the 80's, with more fans on stage than the band itself. "Critical Mass" is a politically conscious song about the environment and the consequences of nuclear war, and the fans jumping on stage and singing the chorus alongside front-man John Connelly was an unforgettable experience. The show was proof that some bands have a following may still be underground after a 30 year career, yet they have fans that are immensely loyal. Knowing every word to every song, getting on stage and sharing the mic, passing the mic stand back to the singer after it was knocked over time after time again. On top of all of this, the band members simply do not act like rockstars, coming out to the front of the venue for pictures with fans, talking with everyone, signing vinyl records. The entire night was a representation of the brotherhood of the metal community and proof that we have some of the best fans of music that a veteran metal band could ask for. This is our scene and we own it. Simply an unforgettable night.
Higher Brothers, the Chinese rap group native of Chengdu, China has released their new single & music video 'Flo Rida' featuring Ski Mask the Slump God, a young Broward County, Fl born rapper who is also rising in the hip hop world. The strict censorship laws of China limiting access to most social media has not stopped the Higher Brothers nor kept them from going viral with their single 'Uber' which landed members of the group in for questioning by the Public Security Bureau about the lyrics of the song. Higher Brothers were featured in Paper Magazine as consistently making their hits "blow up"; the groups other singles 'Made In China', 'Bitch Don't Kill My Dab', and '711' have all gone viral. Higher Brothers are an official Hunnypot Dance Party Approved group. -Morgan DeShields-McClure
