"Old Town Hoe" is Cupcakke's spin on the recently famous "Old Town Road" (Lil Nas X). No Stranger to celebrating underdogs and underpants (no matter who's wearing them), Cupcakke has never held back on being honest for our entertainment.

Tech N9ne’s latest album, N9NA, may be one of his finest releases since All 6’s and 7’s back in 2011. This one is lean, mean, and takes listeners back to a time when all that mattered was the music. It’s Tech N9ne at his finest and won’t disappoint even the most discerning of Technicians. We rate this one a solid 9.4 out of 10 and it’s Hunnypot Approved!
For those that know me, it would come as no surprise that I am a huge Tech N9ne fan. I’ve followed him for nearly 15 years and been to more Tech shows than I would care to admit. I even have the Strange Music’s “Snake and Bat” represented on my arm courtesy of LA Tattoo legend, Mr. Cartoon. When I heard that we were in for another Tech N9ne release, I was cautiously optimistic because I wasn’t sure if he could continue to improve upon releases like The Storm and Planet (which I thoroughly enjoyed). After taking N9NA for a spin around the block a time or two, I can honestly say that this one was in a class all by itself. It’s a “No-frills” Tech release that took me back to his early releases that were raw, witty, and most importantly real.
N9NA’s 21 tracks are collectively some of Tech’s best work in years. Listeners are immediately transported to classic Tech N9ne cyphers that hypnotize and mesmerize listeners simultaneously. In addition to instant classics such as “N9NA” and “I Caught Crazy!”, this one is chock full of amazing collaborations with up-and-coming artists such as JL, King Iso, and Futuristic. I especially liked “Hit the Ground Running”. It’s loaded with cool flows, powerful orchestration, and lyrics that simple yet hard-hitting. Listening to it a few times, I’d swear that I hear piano samples from Bonnie Tyler’s Total “Eclipse of the Heart” (but that may just be in my own crazy mind). And I’d be remiss not to call out the amazing contributions of the uber-talented Krizz Kaliko. Track’s such as “Don’t Let Me Fall”, “You Line!”, and “Rata” illustrate just how special Krizz is to Tech N9ne and the Strange Music label. Straight fire if you ask me.
Bottom line, Tech N9ne has hit a bases-loaded home run with his latest release, N9NA. It has everything you would want in a Tech N9ne album, and so much more. Rhymes are solid, mixing is best in class, and each song is special in its own unique way. Listening to N9NA is like reading an autobiography of Tech himself. It’s full of stories that tie together one amazing journey – and one that many of us can relate to in one way or another (“Like I Ain’t” is a great example of this).
My only beef with Tech would be that the killer metal collabs of the past have somehow been put on hiatus over his last few albums. “Starting to Turn” (with Jonathan Davis of Korn) was the last one I can recall, and it was brilliant. Time to get Travis on the phone with James and Kirk of Metallica and make that next metal masterpiece happen. Until then, pick up a copy of 2019’s N9NA. You’ll be literally blown away by a once in a lifetime artist that’s hitting on all cylinders and continues to get better with age.
As always, rock on my friends. Hunnypot Approved! Overall Rating: 9.4 out of 10
Artist: Tech N9ne, Album: N9NA, Release Date: April 19th, 2019, Label: Strange Music, Inc.
HunnypotCHELLA Live #414 (4/15/19) put everyone in to a Game of Throes of pleasure. Hot Tub rode in on a dragon and breathed a fire opening DJ Set. Rana Joy Glickman dipped in to the warm interview waters to talk about her career from doing stunts, to making movies and music supervising them. Primal Kings ruled the houses with their blues rock blasts. H2The brought a whole kingdom of friends and performers to join in their sonic journey. Azra was the queen of dance and pop music of the night. Strange Brew regaled us with reggae jams. Kosha Dillz made a play as an heir to a rap music throne and we ended with our famous dance party.
Filmmaker / Producer
Rana Joy is a two word first name. “Rana” also means “Joy”, so her name means “Double Joy” (dj)… Hence her nickname is deejay, or deej… stands for Double Joy, as does she.
Rana Joy Glickman rode into the film industry, literally on horseback, having galloped away from the hard sciences. She began her journey in film as an equestrian stunt woman, during this time she was also singing back up vocals for an Afro-Brazilian Band. Raised in New York City, Rana Joy was immersed in theater, literature, cinema, circus, dance & music. She started playing campfire guitar at a young age, and still considers musically jamming with friends to be her key to happiness and balance. Rana Joy’s father is an international relations professor from India; Her mother, from the Bronx, is a stage actress / linguist of Polish & Russian descent. Her maternal grandfather was a Jazz Pianist. This colorful cultural backdrop combined with the truth that Rana Joy was born a storyteller, ultimately led her to filmmaking.
Rana Joy worked diligently as a PA and came up through the AD department becoming a UPM / Line Producer. Eventually she bloomed into a full-fledged creative Producer & Filmmaker known for balancing of art & commerce. Her indie narrative films have all had potent ambitious soundtracks & her documentary work has been primarily musically themed.
Rana Joy has produced some ground breaking films. Inclusive of Producing for more than 10 first-time feature Directors, some of whom have evolved into powerful voices in today’s independent film movement. Rana Joy & John Anderson (Hunnypot) & Anthony Marinelli & Tracy McKnight, Doreen Ringer-Ross did many BMI panels together, wherein the focus was educating filmmakers about the gravitas & responsibilities surrounding the procurement of music rights & music supervision and the structuring of composer & publishing deals in independent filmmaking. Rana Joy has enjoyed a long standing collaboration with her main music supervisor, Lonnie Sill, who has mentored her sensibility in the intersection of music & film through out her career.
Some of Rana Joy’s films include: God Said Ha!, Kicking & Screaming, Sleep with Me, $pent, Fun, Full Tilt Boogie, Real Stories of the Donut Men, Female Perversions, Golf in the Kingdom, Vaxxed and Truth in Terms of Beauty, which chronicles the story of Jazz Photographer Herman Leonard.
Rana Joy is the founder of SHAKRAH FILMS. The company is a habitat for bold and inspirational stories that celebrate the adventure of “being human” and the human beings … who celebrate the adventure. Rana Joy and the team are currently in development with Quincy Rose’s films Being Buster”& Margaux from Manhattan. As well, Shakrah is now focused on television, specifically an animated music driven series called Maya Unstoppable, a co-production with JagCat & Surfer Jack.
Shakrah Films is also in post-production with the long anticipated documentary that reveals the music and inherent magic of The Kids of Widney High, the punkish-rock band made up of mentally and physically challenged students who played the cult circuit and even the House of Blues. The film currently entitled LoveMusic chronicles them as “Kids” into “adulthood” and some might argue rock stars in their own right. All inspired & courageously led by their illustrious band leader, Guitar player & Michael Monagan. Rana Joy is the Director of this documentary, that is 20 years in the making, trusting the drama of elapsed time will serve to infuse the film with poignant macroscopic perspective and a rockin’ good marinated groove.
Rana Joy has always been active in education and philanthropy. She taught filmmaking at UCLAX and the Los Angeles Film Institute. She has guest lectured and mentored students at NYU, USC, UT and AFI. Having grown up in a Theater saturated environment, acting was both mandatory and enjoyed in her household. She has taught acting and coached actors privately for the past 15 years. Rana Joy loves to ski, hike with her dogs, ride horses, paint and play music. She seldom misses a production of the Cirque du Soleil or The Gypsy Kings or Tony Bennett. Rana Joy is passionate about humanity, culture & life itself.
Tapping the deepest roots of rock n roll, Primal Kings take your favorite audio dishes and deconstruct them, using the tastiest ingredients to create a flavor that is brand new and yet somehow familiar. Their debut, eponymous, record comes to the table awash in aromas of primitive grooves grown in dark, fertile tonal dirt, and gives us a generous helping of heartfelt reflections of lives well lived … warts and all. It excites the pallet while it satisfies like our most beloved comfort food.
Primal Kings was forged in the fires of a 5 year quest to create a full length, fully analog, LP. The journey began when indie, blues/roots/rock singer songwriter, Chris Wilson enlisted the help of veteran engineer/producer, Lenise Bent (Aja, Breakfast in America, Tusk, Autoamerican) to help him capture the raw energy of the band, then known as the Barrelhouse Kings, that had been wowing audiences in LA clubs. The lineup then included incendiary guitarist Jed Ojeda, thunderous drummer Paul Cassarino, and infinitely inventive bassist, Roger Upchurch, and it was this 4 piece unit that walked into Entourage Studios for a 2 and half day marathon session that yielded the primary tracks for the album.
What followed was the long journey toward completion of a fully realized record. Along the way, Wilson recruited his long time writing and performing partner, Scott Pontius, a strong analog engineer in his own right, to lend his musical, vocal, and technical talents to the cause. The journey was long and arduous, and some were lost along the way. Cutting tracks by hook or by crook, cobbling together gear, and even going so far as to weld together DIY plate reverb units, is not for the feint of heart; and in the end only Wilson, Bent, Upchurch, and Pontius remained. The result was the creation of Elsewhere Studios, and the birth of Primal Kings.
Now, armed with digital masters honed by Warren Sokol at Universal Mastering, Wilson, Upchurch and Pontius set out to retake the stage, as Primal Kings, in support of the album they have so lovingly fostered, and to raise the funds to complete their dream of pressing vinyl and releasing a truly analog LP. With a live show that channels the raw energy that sparked it all, while faithfully representing their carefully crafted debut album, Primal Kings shows will leave you simultaneously satisfied, and craving more.
“Brilliantly blending 80’s synths with an new cutting edge sampling style, rising hip hop/experimental producer h2the released his debut single titled “Taste Of The“, a teaser/cut-up off his new beat tape exclusively available on cassette!” – UGHH
URB Magazine wrote that “[h2the] is something else…in a profound kind of way,” calling his sound titillating and “juicy for the ears,” while The Village Voice described his productions as “adventurous and banging.”
2DOPEBOYZ and Vibe Magazine’s allhiphop.com have also noted h2the’s rap flips of 80's inspired sonics. It’s the producer as auteur as every track takes you through the emotional space of the artist, like Kanye or Godard.

P!nk turns 40 September 8th but you would never know that watching her perform! This show experience was a unique one for me. I’m an experienced professional photographer that has shot many big name tours and was pre-approved to shoot P!nk a month before the show. I then shortened a planned trip to make sure I was in town but two days before the show I found out that they had to cut the press in half which happens in this industry and I got cut. This was round 2 of P!nk’s Beautiful Trama Tour, since I planned on shooting it I didn’t get tickets to the show. It was about an hour before P!nk hit the stage when a great friend of mine who didn't know I got cut sent me a message saying he couldn’t make it to P!nk tonight, he then sent me 2 tickets to my email box. I jumped off the couch and boogied to Pepsi Center as fast as I could. When I got the tickets I looked and they were ROW 1 CENTER! It was then I decided to still write my article and snap a few iPhone photos as a fan.
The show started with a bang as the bright pink curtain dropped with “Let’s get this party started”! P!nk was hanging from this giant beautiful, pink, sparkly chandelier dressed in a black sequenced jumpsuit. P!nk’s incredible strength and endurance makes her the true definition of a "bad ass". Her back up dancers were also top notch, they really made it apparent that they loved their job. “Revenge” ft. Eminem came on and there were puppet dancers flipping around everywhere and then comes out a GIANT air puppet of Eminem who rapped his part. She then proceeded to karate chop the Eminem puppet in the face. Her set list was full of her hits and some covers too. With the 25th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death just a few days away, she said to the audience “Feel free to loose your mind for a few minutes”, right before jumping into Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The sold-out crowd literally lost their minds (me included!)
This tour is jaw dropping amazing with props, visual effects and P!nk flying around the stage and the over the audience. However, what really brought it home for me was P!nk’s incredible message. She told us about a conversation with her 2-year-old daughter, Willow, telling her that she thinks she looks like a boy. She then began to encourage everyone in the audience to love themselves, beauty comes in all forms and everyone is beautiful. It literally brought tears to my eyes.
P!nk’s performance lasted almost 3 hours and was unbelievable because she had took no breaks (aside from set/costume changes)! How she has that much endurance (especially in the Mile High City) is way beyond me. To end the night, P!nk came out dressed in a white t-shirt jean dress and flip flops to sing “Glitter in the Air”, which is one of my favorites and a perfect way to end the night. I feel she was trying to show that she can come out on stage dressed to the nine’s or in regular street clothes and she is still the same person, a bad ass. This was my first time seeing P!nk, and I was literally blown away. Hopefully I get the opportunity to photograph P!nk on a future tour. Until then, here are some photos I took of P!nk with my iPhone as a fan from front row center!
Although "Fashion Slayer" begins with some very sparse acoustic guitar from the second that this duo starts to sing you recognize there is nothing remotely folky about this music. The group self-categorizes as soul, which is also the identification of another artist I could not help but compare Hannah Eggen to, that is soul singer Macy Gray. Like Macy the vocals here are not common but rather really authentic. Despite vocal similarities you can not deny that this unique duo also including Gianluca Gibbons is staying true to their own original styles and its obvious that they aren't trying to replicate or impersonate any other artist. "Fresh, and we're here to stay" is a lyric within "Fashion Slayer," and indeed that HEЯITAGE is and will continue to be if they consistently attempt honoring their message which really speaks to being yourself. Product endorsement kind of makes me cringe whenever I hear it in rap music but in this circumstance it comes across as both charming and clever, mostly due to the lyrics but also in part to the music video that is something of a fashion shoot. The product placement being so central to the song makes it catchy and I found "Fashion Slayer" worth repeated listening. If you want to hear HEЯITAGE yourself and live, save the date May 13th as HEЯITAGE joins the Hunnypot Live party on stage.

"Television can control public opinion more effectively than armies of secret police, because television is entirely voluntary. The American government forces our children to attend school, but nobody forces them to watch T.V. Americans of all ages *submit* to television. Television is the American ideal. Persuasion without coercion. Nobody makes us watch. Who could have predicted that a *free* people would voluntarily spend one fifth of their lives sitting in front of a *box* with pictures? Fifteen years sitting in prison is punishment. But 15 years sitting in front of a television set is entertainment. And the average American now spends more than one and a half years of his life just watching television commercials. Fifty minutes, every day of his life, watching commercials. Now, that's power. " -John Reston (Looker) Speaking of power and coercion, everyone who was coerced in to attending Hunnypot Live #413 last night felt some serious power. Hot Tub started the persuasion with new classics. THOMAS GOLUBIC´ (the most appearing guest on Hunnypot Live) returned with updates in the music supervision world and brought a burning dark set of insanely danceable songs. Speed of Light broke sound and gravitational barriers with a pummeling rock music set. Velvet Starlings returned to our stage with new classic rave up rock n roll. Alex Noize bumped a dance DJ set. Amanda Rome West spit rhyme chimes with her raps. Sherif delivered a festival energy set and the night closed with yet another famous dance party. 04/01/2019

Thomas’ formative years, musically speaking, were spent as a DJ, music programmer and on-air host for tastemaker LA radio station KCRW 89.9 FM. After ending his 10- year residency at KCRW, he turned his attention to music production and live audio/video DJ work. He formed The Arbiters, a music collective creating mash-up music and video productions, free-released two EPs, and created audio and video mash-up productions for clients including Google, YouTube, Microsoft and Levi’s. SPEED OF LIGHT are siblings from Santa Monica, California. Inspired by everything from The Stooges to Desert Rock, this power trio (15, 13 and 12) plays hard-hitting garage rock with a healthy side of punk. With Cameron's 70s-style guitar riffs, Tyler's thundering drums, and Riley's driving bass, they “smash out shameless firebrand old school rock and roll with skill and guts and style.”
All three members contribute to vocals and songwriting. This LA. band has rocked the SoCal area with their original sound, forging their own path with no apologies, no looking back, and nothing but open road ahead.
Velvet Starlings is fronted by Christian Gisborne a 15 year old indie rock singer, songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. He is known for a powerful 60s era Eric Burdon (The Animals) influenced vocal style combined with a commanding stage presence. Velvet Starling's unique performance style has invited media and industry insider comparisons to Jack White and Ty Segal. Gisborne's early musical influences included British Invasion staples, such as The Beatles, The Who and the Rolling Stones. Already making a name for himself at such a young age, Velvet Starlings has garnered attention from Los Angeles powerhouse KROQ as well as Sirius XM. His fusion of gritty garage blues coupled with Brit inspired rock has led to high profile festival bookings including SXSW/MEcon and Summerfest Milwaukee. Velvet Starlings’ long awaited self-titled EP on Sound x 3 Records / Rock N Rolla Records is set for release late 2018 which was a collaboration with producer songwriter Roger Gisborne (leader of 90s Brit Rock band “Plastiscene”), mastered by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, Beck, Black Keys). The seven track EP kicks off with leading single and video, “If Life Ain’t Getting You High”. The single features vintage guitar sounds, driving drums and hard hitting rock vocals. With introspective lyricism detailing living in the moment, "If Life Ain't Getting You High” is an anthem for the youth of today. The band wear their influences proudly on their sleeves with second single, “Borrowed Time”, a clear tribute to the sixties British Invasion era, which has been receiving considerable airplay & review. "Sold Down The River”, the latest single, showcases Dylan-esque lyrics, soulful Hammond B3 organ, gritty guitars and raw blues inspired vocals.
