Although "Fashion Slayer" begins with some very sparse acoustic guitar from the second that this duo starts to sing you recognize there is nothing remotely folky about this music. The group self-categorizes as soul, which is also the identification of another artist I could not help but compare Hannah Eggen to, that is soul singer Macy Gray. Like Macy the vocals here are not common but rather really authentic. Despite vocal similarities you can not deny that this unique duo also including Gianluca Gibbons is staying true to their own original styles and its obvious that they aren't trying to replicate or impersonate any other artist. "Fresh, and we're here to stay" is a lyric within "Fashion Slayer," and indeed that HEЯITAGE is and will continue to be if they consistently attempt honoring their message which really speaks to being yourself. Product endorsement kind of makes me cringe whenever I hear it in rap music but in this circumstance it comes across as both charming and clever, mostly due to the lyrics but also in part to the music video that is something of a fashion shoot. The product placement being so central to the song makes it catchy and I found "Fashion Slayer" worth repeated listening. If you want to hear HEЯITAGE yourself and live, save the date May 13th as HEЯITAGE joins the Hunnypot Live party on stage.

"Television can control public opinion more effectively than armies of secret police, because television is entirely voluntary. The American government forces our children to attend school, but nobody forces them to watch T.V. Americans of all ages *submit* to television. Television is the American ideal. Persuasion without coercion. Nobody makes us watch. Who could have predicted that a *free* people would voluntarily spend one fifth of their lives sitting in front of a *box* with pictures? Fifteen years sitting in prison is punishment. But 15 years sitting in front of a television set is entertainment. And the average American now spends more than one and a half years of his life just watching television commercials. Fifty minutes, every day of his life, watching commercials. Now, that's power. " -John Reston (Looker) Speaking of power and coercion, everyone who was coerced in to attending Hunnypot Live #413 last night felt some serious power. Hot Tub started the persuasion with new classics. THOMAS GOLUBIC´ (the most appearing guest on Hunnypot Live) returned with updates in the music supervision world and brought a burning dark set of insanely danceable songs. Speed of Light broke sound and gravitational barriers with a pummeling rock music set. Velvet Starlings returned to our stage with new classic rave up rock n roll. Alex Noize bumped a dance DJ set. Amanda Rome West spit rhyme chimes with her raps. Sherif delivered a festival energy set and the night closed with yet another famous dance party. 04/01/2019

Velvet Starlings

Velvet Starlings is fronted by Christian Gisborne a 15 year old indie rock singer, songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. He is known for a powerful 60s era Eric Burdon (The Animals) influenced vocal style combined with a commanding stage presence. Velvet Starling's unique performance style has invited media and industry insider comparisons to Jack White and Ty Segal. Gisborne's early musical influences included British Invasion staples, such as The Beatles, The Who and the Rolling Stones. Already making a name for himself at such a young age, Velvet Starlings has garnered attention from Los Angeles powerhouse KROQ as well as Sirius XM. His fusion of gritty garage blues coupled with Brit inspired rock has led to high profile festival bookings including SXSW/MEcon and Summerfest Milwaukee. Velvet Starlings’ long awaited self-titled EP on Sound x 3 Records / Rock N Rolla Records is set for release late 2018 which was a collaboration with producer songwriter Roger Gisborne (leader of 90s Brit Rock band “Plastiscene”), mastered by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, Beck, Black Keys). The seven track EP kicks off with leading single and video, “If Life Ain’t Getting You High”. The single features vintage guitar sounds, driving drums and hard hitting rock vocals. With introspective lyricism detailing living in the moment, "If Life Ain't Getting You High” is an anthem for the youth of today. The band wear their influences proudly on their sleeves with second single, “Borrowed Time”, a clear tribute to the sixties British Invasion era, which has been receiving considerable airplay & review. "Sold Down The River”, the latest single, showcases Dylan-esque lyrics, soulful Hammond B3 organ, gritty guitars and raw blues inspired vocals.

Tastemaker/DJ Rodney Bingenheimer (who broke artists such as David Bowie and Coldplay in the US on KROQ) has also been spinning the singles on his Sirius radio show, Underground Garage as has another former KROQ DJ, Mike Rogers whose radio show in Tokyo, Japan boasts over 3M listeners. As a result of tremendous reaction from radio, Velvet Starlings are receiving offers to tour internationally from all corners of the globe, including Japan, United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, Canada and South Africa. Paper Jackets

PAPER JACKETS

Paper Jackets emerges from the LA indie pop scene inhabited by producer Ethan Kaufmann — a driving influence of the band’s electrifying, synth-pop sound.

The line-up consists of lead vocalist James Mason, Emily Dickinson on keyboard, Jonny Vesely on guitar and Miles Franco on bass. The five teamed up in Silver Lake, CA to record the band’s first EP, Don't Lose Your Head, a twenty minute set of songs that weaves the singer’s natural emotive voice into Kaufmann’s slick production in his East Hollywood studio dubbed “The Elephant in the Room.”

Affected by artists such as The 1975, Grouplove, CHVRCHES, and Walk the Moon, Paper Jackets offers pop listeners a fist full of glitter amid the layers of their synth inspired sound, memorable hooks and catchy phrases from start to finish.

Stacked high with experimental indie rock and synth-pop gleam, the 6 tracks off their debut EP are all buoyed by keen lyricism. Thematically, the songs conform around the anxiety and tension that nearly every 20-something has grappled with: transitioning from a more careless existence to fitting in with the bewildering idea of what it means to be an “adult.” The EP also calls to attention the damage done to personal relationships caught in the corners of addiction and depression.Celebratory singles “Trigger” and “Girl” are set on robust choruses and fetching verses! The carefully placed percussion layers and synth progressions provide the base for Mason’s musings. “Trigger” preaches to anyone who has cracked or lost their phone during a night of heavy boozing: Sometimes it’s just easier to find delight in the screw-up and accept it as a souvenir of an awesome night of revelry. “Mary Louise” finds Mason nostalgic for his days living in LA in the mid-2000’s, reminiscing on past friends and debaucherous times. The album closes with "1985" a song about never getting older in a fleeting world.

Satica's song "Miss Yr High" unabashedly nods to drug culture with the metaphor of highness to being in love. The lyrics even cleverly go so far as to incorporate the idea of being "under the influence." Within the video and lyrics of the song there is a point where a sexual fantasy of stripping down in a parking lot is revealed. Satica stands front and center among three cars and clothes strewn akimbo. The song also begins with Satica reflecting that she can't forget being pinned to a wall by her love interest. This is certainly a song about desire and passion!

Musically, the song itself has something of a trance beat to it and as the chorus gets more or less into a loop towards the end of the composition Satica's vocals are then electronified which works for the overall tone. The song comes in at a fairly tight three minutes with a very succinct finale that hits you hard.

The video is directed by Brad Wong and you have to hand it to him for a moment in the video where the warning lights on the cars appear to be in a sequence like something you might remember from Stephen Spielberg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and maybe that is the point to "Miss Yr High" as a close encounter seems exactly what Satica is pining for.

Recently, City Girls and Cardi B released a new music video for their single, ‘Twerk’. Of course, with an upbeat track like this, you’ll expect a heavy amount of twerking. But as follow up to the video, City Girls have come out with spin-off video of elderly ladies learning how to shake what their mama gave them. At first, these ladies believe they’re attending a regular senior dance class, but when a young Choreographer who specializes in twerking comes to teach, they’re in for a modernized surprise.

After these ladies get a full tutorial on twerking and all the glory it inhabits, they completely let themselves loose, rehearsing a full hip-hop routine of booty-shaking galore. The video promptly cuts to the ladies out of the studio, and into the club. While the seniors show off the moves they learned, two ladies spoof City Girls’ and Cardi B’s verse, lip singing in the same looks the artists sported in the original video.

The video is high-energy, entertaining, and risqué, yet endearingly sweet as these ladies dancing the night away warm your heart. The video will not only make you smile, but show that no one is too anything to twerk.

"On March 25, 2016, Mallman released “The End is Not The End,” which features themes of life after death and constant rebirth on earth. Mallman created the album after his mother died and he was dealing with depression and anxiety attacks. Sunni Colón's new video "PSICODELIC" is the perfect blend of, psychedelic rock, funk and soul-inflected earworms. The video depicts images of Sunni discovering different parts of his personality and becoming closer to different sides of his being. It is interesting how relatable the song is because every person at one point experiences a time where they grow, develop, and evolve various parts of their individuality. His latest EP " Satin Psycodelic" is silky smooth. Sunni explores grappling with relationships and the traumas and transformations we experience as we get older. Sonically, the EP is a successful attempt at finding calm within a storm. Sunni has a flair for melody, layering disparate sequences and sounds on top of one another, resulting in a seamless and compelling whole, much like the way his multiple faculties as a creative play out in his own life. In Sunni’s own words, “It’s like balanced chaos.”

Sunni Colón is an enigma. The polymath self-taught multi-instrumentalist has released music and film, created and hosted sound art installations, has a creative agency called Tetsu and is now dabbling in furniture design. “I grew up all over. I was born in LA and raised in New York, London, France and Africa,” Sunni says describing his childhood — something of a template for his current nomadic lifestyle. While he plans to settle in his hometown of Los Angeles soon, Sunni’s far-reaching worldview remains: “I’ve been in LA a lot because I’ve been getting gigs. But it’s so cliche for me to be here, as an artist. There’s so much more. It’s a whole market of people listening outside of this small world.”

Listen, Hunnypot Live is all ages and never charges a cover but we will still accept bribes to get your kids in . We will even say we have a rowing team they can join. Show #412 was pretty scandalous. Hot Tub Johnnie kicked (back) off with a set of danceables and tranceables. Arbel Bedak got wet with us for his backstory and party playlist. Grace Blue returned with synth and sensibilities. Voila dropped in straight from SXSW to give us acoustic pop gems. Flashback Flash played modern familiar hard rock. Elin K. sung her heart out for us and we closed with another Ivy League dance party. 03/18/2019

VOILÀ

VOILÀ

“Refreshing,” “Romantic,” and “Relatable” are a few of the terms used to describe L.A.- based pop/rock act VOILÀ. Gus Ross and Luke Eisner, respectively from London and Wisconsin - combine authentic production, emotive vocals and magnetic lyricism as a duo.

Ross started out busking around London, which led to playing shows in London’s infamous West End: even performing for the Queen. He incorporates “raw emotion and old school jazz,” in his vocals. He is fascinated by the technicality of music and handles production.

On the other side of the world, Eisner’s passion for music came through lyricism: fascinated by timeless literature, he fronted bands in the midwest scene. “I strive to include at least one tattoo-able phrase in every song we write," says Eisner, who also maintains a professional modeling career, which helps craft the duo's aesthetic. ?

VOILÀ started 2018 as one of BBC Introducing Solent’s “Ones to Watch.” With millions of streams on their music to date, their singles “Hundredth Second Chance” and “Lately” continue to grow. After success on Spotify and BBC radio, the band drew eminent praise from the likes of Billboard, Pandora, and more. They have supported the likes of Kesha, The Fray, X Ambassadors, Flume and, Martin Garrix and their new single, "Don't," premiered on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist at #19. With their ambitious spirit, impressive dedication, and undeniable charm - VOILÀ look set for Wembley.

Malibu is a hazy dream-like ethereal pop track, that evokes a cinematic backdrop of sunbathed rolling waves along Malibu’s iconic beach coast. The track’s guitar flirts with vintage west coast rock, sweet sweeping strings, and 70’s progressive sounds while Elin’s voice delivers a contemporary turn with a Nordic inspired aural immersion.

“Malibu” is written as a snapshot of a carefree golden period in Elin K.’s life while first touring the States. “It was something special about this city and its beach culture, in particular, that I instantly fell in love with. I felt at home, as I could fully be myself in this crazy mix of cultures and lifestyles.”

Hunnypot's favorite ROCK outfit Viagra Boys just released a video to the single "Just Like You". The Street Worms album is just nine tracks long, it's a brilliant and concise portrait of who this Swedish band are. The Viagra Boys album is a brawling collection of scuzzy, yet precise street blues and freaky, often twisted imagery that lifts the listener to a powerful new level. Don't miss the band's LA show at The Echo March 20th, 2019.
