L.A.-based garage-rockers Adult Cinema carbon-date to the late 1970s, when punk rock was morphing into a thing called new wave and power-pop bands were adapting their infectious hooks to soul and disco beats. Enormous fun at the time, and just as exhilarating the way singer-guitarist Randy Michael and his quintet are doing it now. Their new video for their single Disorder of the Dancefloor showcases the motley crew in a black and white minimalist in a sort of Gap ad campaign way. Be sure to check them out Monday November 4th at The Mint when they play live for Hunnypot Radio.

It’s almost Halloween so you may not recognize him without the bunny costume (hope I didn’t spoil it for anybody), James Duval stars in Black Belt Karate’s official music video for Building Walls. The video is a little sci-fi and bit creepy and features a glowing golden ball, clones and clone girlfriends with violent tendencies. In promotion of their debut EP “Volume 1,” Black Belt Karate will be performing live for Hunnypot Radio on November 4th at The Mint at the 9:30 spot. Don’t miss your chance to see these true badass rockers for free! No cover/no list. See you Monday!

The all-around beat-driven performance was incredible.
Closing out the show was none other than LA based singer-songwriter, Heather Reid (formerly of the alt-rock band, The Murmurs). Heather took to the stage and played a beautifully crafted set of passionate songs about heartbreak, love and the joy in life. Mostly taken from her new album, Cross Wordswhich is available at her website http://heatherreidmusic.com.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 10/21/2013

Jack Littman is a prolific multi-instrumentalist writer-singer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Jack blends synths, loops, and Kaoss Pad beats with acoustic guitar and his powerful baritone. Add to this his considerable storytelling ability, and the result is a style that is difficult if not impossible to pigeon-hole. Jack’s songs cover all stages of relationships, politics, and gettin’ funky. He has played with the likes of Tapes N Tapes, Avi Buffalo, Robert Francis and Busdriver and has just returned from a month long-tour of the Southwest preceded by a five week US tour, playing four FMLY festivals, and legendary venues such as Trunk Space in Arizona and the Knitting Factory Brooklyn. Jack’s newest release, The Remedy, Vol. 1, was released as a download on February 26th, 2013. His previous EP, The Mixtape, garnered positive response across the blogosphere. Jack directs his own videos, the most recent being for the Mixtape track “Little Pretty Thing.”

Phoenix-based group of over 6 years defines their sound as “Desert Soul,” beat-driven and meaningful, their unique music has been compared to Bill Withers, The Meters and Erykah Badu. Fronted by vocalist Emma Pew, BLACK CARL has a live power all its own, while Pew’s confident vocal dynamics range from sentinel to breakable–a modern, white Nina Simone.
BLACK CARL has independently released several records, including a self-titled EP Black Carl (2007), their first full-length Borrowed (2009), a series of 7” vinyl EPs titled The Chariot (2011), The Hanged Man and The Magician (2011) and The Fool (2012), and a second full-length record The Wheel (2013).
BLACK CARL believes in making music that hits hard and is driven by their friendship and shared desire to connect with an audience through their songs.

“We were discovered in Williamsburg before it was Williamsburg,” says Heather Reid about her first record deal. Since that time as one half of iconic gay alt-rock band The Murmurs, Heather has been in two other bands, written a musical that went into development in London’s West End, co-wrote a Gold-selling single for Shakira, and became a mom. Yet only now is Heather releasing her first solo project independently.
Her independence has been hard-won and well-earned – a classic tale of the music business. At the height of her success with The Murmurs, Heather was singing on stage with Sarah McLachlan and Emmylou Harris at the Lilith Fair. Meanwhile, however, the band’s label was reshuffling, meaning despite their success and the promises made about promoting their next album, The Murmurs were without a record deal. Undeterred, Heather and her Murmurs bandmate Leisha Hailey formed a new group, Gush, and later Heather started her own band, Redcar.
Taking a break from the kind of songwriting she’s done traditionally, Heather pushed her creative boundaries writing Dear Bernard, a musical about love and the search for fame in 1970s New York. It ran for 24 performances in 2004 in Los Angeles before moving to London to be developed for the West End. The show ignited a passion for a new kind of writing for Heather, one where she could tell stories beyond her own experience and create a lively fantasy world (with dancers and backup singers too).
However, on Cross Words, her new album, Heather herself is front and center as a solo artist. It’s a record about heartbreak for sure, but not about feeling sorry for yourself. “It’s about owning my own role in the heartbreak and finding joy in the process of falling and getting back up again,” says Heather.

Workers of the World Unite showcases how passionate these New York based rockers really are. This is an empowering protest folk anthem. The stripped down video accompanies this feel and was filmed in an abandoned shack and flashes images of hard-working farmers.
Just signed with Epic Records and finished a tour throughout Europe and a Los Angeles residency, The Last Internationale is keeping up with their successful busy schedule and joining Hunnypot for our Hollywood Reporter/Billboard Film & TV Music Conference Party. Expect big things for them in 2014 with their Major Label debut. The last Internationale will be playing the 10:15 spot on the main stage. There is no cover, no list and one hellova lineup!

LA based industry tastemaker, John Lambremont (Kill Rock Stars and Shot Clock Management) joined Hot Tub for a special sit down interview and DJ Set. John prepared a handpicked collection of his favorite tunes at the moment including new gems from breaking artists - Hands, Haerts, NO, Body Parts and a few other artists we will all be hearing about very soon.
Boston based soul rocker, Jesse Dee was the first artist to take the stage and boy did he deliver. Jesse rocked out many of the standout cuts off his new album, On My Mind / In My Heart out now via Alligator Records.
Hitting the stage next was LA based rockers, The Bixby Dolls. This LA quartet lead by Curt Barlage performed a high energy 60s garage rock infused set, playing tunes off their 2012 release, Near & Undear as well as new tunes.
Closing out the show was LA rap collective, Psych Ward Druggies. Making a name in the area with their intense pop-up shows, Psych Ward Druggies hit the stage and completely rocked out with a high energy performance of songs like "Respect The Shooter" and their current club single banger "Pop It For A Player".
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! If you missed the show or just want more, you can listen back to all the performances and DJ sets at the link below…

It took a mad scientist to make it happen. After working with a talented collection
Yet this would be no normal group. It would be called Psych Ward Druggies and would have a specific mission. “He explained the concept to us,” says Golden Boy, one of the nine members of the crew. “That the world is a psych ward and we’re all drugged up by our society.”
Dom Liberati delivers bass driven anthem rock with an earnest, aggressive and fresh approach. His infectious, stadium-sized hooks are reinforced by sharp, jangly guitars and pocket-heavy grooves. The former Academic All American Quarterback with small town charm, good looks and sensitive worldview maintains his uniqueness as a stand out bassist with unparalleled stage presence and an unforgettable, Midwestern-flared rock voice. Combining the pop sensibility of The Police and Jimmy Eat World, the raw grit of Foo Fighters, the hopeful, confessional lyricism of Switchfoot and the anthemic energy of Bruce Springsteen, Liberati’s unique soundscape pays homage to some of his biggest influences. His single "You Still Haunt Me" is featured in New York Times Bestseller Kami Garcia's new trailer for Unbreakable on MTV!
King Washington’s newest LP “The Overload” has quickly become one of this years most critically acclaimed releases. Lauded for their musicianship, songwriting, and versatility, the bring to mind The Beatles, Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Queen, and The Talking Heads. Co-Lead Vocalist/Guitarist Tyson Kelly doesn’t just sound like John Lennon, he has played the man on Broadway. His vocal stylings range from beautiful to irreverent. He can sound like an angel, a demon, and everything in between. Co-Lead Vocalist/Guitarist George Krikes’ vocal style is rustic and sweet. He is the American to Kelly’s Brit – the Washington to Kelly’s King. And along with Bassist Billy Lee, King Washington is poised to impact the musical world with an impeccable balance of Lyric, Melody, Beat, and Harmony.

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew threw another fantastic show as we jumped back into our favorite place The Mint. Hot Tub had an extremely fun set prepared as he dropped tracks from STRNGRS, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Gigamesh, Elvis Presley and much more.
Renowned studio wizard and DJ, Danny Saber joined us for an intimate interview and special handpicked DJ set. Danny brought to us an exceptional collection of music which traced back to many of his favorite artists that he's worked with over the years featuring Marilyn Manson, Dave Navarro, George Clinton, Public Enemy and even a crossover remix of Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit" taken off his new album Saber Bytes Vol. 2. This was a fascinating interview loaded with great stories and timeless music from one of the most eclectic and accomplished producer/engineers in the business.
Kicking off our live performances was LA based electronic musician, ALEK FIN (aka Adam Finkel). Taking the stage for the first time in over a year, Adam and his band performed a brilliant set featuring new songs off his EP Mull. His lead single "Waiting Like A Wolf" highlighted the night along with standouts "Gone", "Rocks In Paper" and "Mull".
Next to perform on the show was the London based multi-intrumentalist duo, Bitter Ruin. Due to slight technical problems we were treated to a very special stripped down acoustic performance from on-top of The Mint's bar. All stood in awe of Georgia Train's beautiful vocals as they soared through the Hunnypot crowd. The highlight came with the performance of their new single "Diggers" taken from the forthcoming album Waves.
Our final performer was LA based (via Germany/Thailand) rapper, Azizi Gibson. Fresh off the release of his latest album Ghost in the Shell via Brainfeeder Label, Aiziz dropped some hard hitting smoked out bangers.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 09/23/2013
Los Angeles resident Danny Saber is not only known for his years playing guitar and bass with the Manchester, England-based Black Grape—he is also known for his skills as a producer, remixer, engineer, and DJ, and has worked with a long list of major artists ranging from Sheryl Crow to Madonna to Public Enemy. Saber is not an easy artist to categorize; he has strong alternative rock credentials, but he has also embraced everything from hardcore rap to industrial to trip-hop.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Saber was seriously into funk, heavy metal, and hard rock when he was growing up; his first experience playing on the L.A. club scene was in a hip-hop-influenced funk band called Proper Grounds. As time went on, he became even more eclectic in his tastes so eclectic that he eventually ended up having both rapper Busta Rhymes and veteran country-pop singer Willie Nelson on his résumé. Although Saber is American, the—aternative pop/rock band that brought him a lot of exposure in the mid-’90s—Back Grape—was edominantly British and was led by vocalist Shaun Ryder, formerly of the Happy Mondays.
ALEK FIN is a Los Angeles, CA based electronic musician, producer, and engineer.
Bitter Ruin are Georgia Train and Ben Richards. Described as a boy/girl duo but never to be underestimated when it comes to both their live and recorded sound, Bitter Ruin's dynamic is a huge part of what makes them stand out. They met in 2007 and began crafting their sound through a number of self-released EPs. Interestingly, these multi-instrumentalists had wildly opposing musical in the Bjork-esque 'Diggers'. Bitter Ruin have been described by others as Noir Pop, Indie, Rock, Punk, Folk, Soul, Flamenco, Classical and so many more sub-genres, but the best thing to do is listen and make up your own mind.

Out Cold is the side-project of Simon Aldred, who you may or may not know as the frontman of indie pop also-rans, Cherry Ghost. While that band remain on hiatus following the release of 2010's Beneath This Burning Shoreline, Aldred's not only shifted his focus but also his sound. Out Cold's forthcoming debut album, Invasion of Love – recorded with Metronomy and NZCA Lines producer, Ash Workman – takes in everything from Motown to house to electropop. We here at Hunnypot are eager to hear more from Out Cold.
