Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew once again threw a fantastic show, this time at The Mint’s fabulous Backstage Studio/Green Room last week. For the 272nd show, Hot Tub kicked off with a slammin set of jams which included new tunes from Alek Fin, Clubfeet (w. Chela), Holly Palmer, Young Dro, Juice J, Far East Movement x TJR and many more that you can listen to here.
Our special guest DJ was renowned COMPOSER AND MUSIC EDITOR, Elliott Goldkind. Elliott has worked and collaborated with Jeff Buckley, David Mamet, among others and is currently the Music Editor for hit TV shows, The Fosters and Switched at Birth. For his set Elliott chose to play some of his classic favorites that changed his life. He included gems from Polyrock, The Ramones, Captain Beefheart, XTC and many other legendary acts. You can listen back to Thomas’ entire interview/dj set here.
First on stage was LA based 40s flashback trio, The Goods. These 3 LA beauties were on hand to perform tracks off their brand new self-titled EP which was being released at Midnight. Taking the stage with a slightly smaller band The Goods still rocked out a stylistic set of swingin’ boogie-woogie jams.
Keeping the show in line was Hunnypot’s own DJ Boom Shack who dropped a killer set of current new tastemaker jams by Lolo, RAC (w. Kele, MNDR), Nightmares On Wax, Nicky Blitz, Etta Bond x Raf Riley and many many more.
Next up we had Opus Label/Hunnypot songstress, July Cruise, join us for a brief interview and to premiere her infectious debut dance single “A Song About You”. July also graced us with a special performance of her forthcoming single “Addiction Song” to be released later this year by Opus Label.
Set and ready to close out the show, was LA based DJ, Composer, Producer, Schpilkas. A Hunnypot Hot-Tubber for many years, this marked the first time Schpilkas took to the HP Airwaves’ 1’s and 2’s and he did not disappoint. Best known for his composer and production work for Film/TV and Video Games (Tia & Tamera, One Tree Hill, Family Wedding, Top Spin 4 and much more), Schpilkas prepared an onslaught of hip hop influenced, 80s electro dance favs including The Golden Palominos, INXS, Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock, Madonna, Daft Punk and many many more classic gems.
In a special throwback to traditional Hunnypot Radio Shows, Hot Tub Johnnie prepared our first Sing-A-Long in over a year. It was Alicia Bridges’ classic 1978 disco hit “I Love The Nightlife (Disco Round)” Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 8-26-2013
Elliott Goldkind has composed music for diverse media, ranging from orchestral and chamber music to film, television, and commercials. Elliott’s classical/concert music has been performed throughout the United States and Western Europe. His film scoring work has led to collaborations with Jeff Buckley, David Mamet and many talented young directors. Elliott received his B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College, studied at Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris and the Hochschule fur Musik in Berlin. Stylistically, Elliott’s music ranges from lyrical to nails-on-blackboard. Ideally, he writes with pen and paper, leaving it up to “real musicians” to perform. However, for film and commercial applications, various electronic/digital approaches rear their ugly heads as well. Elliott was a founding member of the not-too-legendary New York rock bands “Bones Jones and the Jones Tones,” “Hodgepodge Lodge,” and “Freak of Nature.” Like too many others, Elliott is a native New Yorker living in Los Angeles.

The Goods is a band formed by Los Angeles based recording artists Lucy Woodward, Holly Palmer & Michelle Lewis. While busy writing, recording and performing their own music, which is heard on iPods, TV, film and on stages around the world, they first came together to sing at at a mutual friend’s Christmas party. It was love at first note. They started writing songs together and called themselves The Goods. Their songs are inspired equally by The Andrews Sisters & Lena Dunham’s character “Hannah” from the HBO show “Girls”. Stylistically rooted in the swing and boogie-woogie era, their lyrics are strictly 21st century. What has emerged in their writing is an everywoman character who despite her best intentions is always getting into some kind of trouble. Their live show is a twisted, comical, slightly dark affair that leaves people wondering, “What did I just see?” and “When can I see it again?” They are currently at work on their debut release, which will be out this summer.

July Cruise is bringing soulful pop back into a music scene. And she has the voice to prove it with her debut single, “A Song About You,” dropping July 23, 2013. Before becoming July Cruise, Tatiana McConnico had a humble musical start at age 3 while singing Whitney Houston in her living room in Atlanta, Georgia. Her parents would often play Al Green, Johnny Taylor, Frankie Beverly and Maze. As she grew older, she expanded her interests to Fiona Apple, No Doubt, Diana Ross, and The Supremes. The mix of talents – old and new, heartfelt and upbeat – helped influence the music she makes today. At the American Idol audition, Randy Jackson referred to the singer/songwriter as “the best voice in Birmingham.” In addition to making it to the top 40 on American Idol, July also performed on Showtime at the Apollo, The Jenny Show, and Madison Square Garden. July most recently signed with Opus Label and will be releasing her new single this summer. “A Song About You” brings a beat to which you can dance yet infectious lyrics to sing along to. She is also slowly making her internet presence known with her remix to Watch The Throne’s “No Church In The Wild,” which has received over 150,000 views. In the words of the artist herself, “I just want to touch as many people with my music as I can.”

Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew once again threw a fantastic show at The Mint last week. For the 271st time, Hot Tub kicked off the show with a fresh set of jams which included new tunes from Malibu Shark Attack, Crystal Fightters, The Moonbeams, Light FM, Purple, ARTILARI and many more.
Our special guest DJ was none other than Hunnypot favorite and supervisor extraordinaire, Thomas Golubic. DJ Tommy G sat down for a brief interview to discuss some of his fine musical selections for the final season of hit TV show Breaking Bad, as well as his new Showtime Series, Ray Donovan. After that Thomas hit us with a fantastic DJ set loaded with hot remixes, electro, hip hop bangers and classic chilled out breakbeat soul funk hits.
First on stage was new LA based Hollyrock artist, Sami who just released her debut video for her single "Go On Darling" produced by Troublemaker. Sami performed a brilliant set of new tunes off her forthcoming album including standouts "Intertwine", "Secret Love of Mine" and "Hell Over You".
Next up we had Beaumont, TX based rock band Purple. This party rockin trio is lead by the highly talented, excentric lead singer/drummer, Hanna Brewer who displayed a star in the making performance. Purple stormed through an explosive, kick ass set playing their new single "Wallflower", as well as the standout "Beach Buddy".
To close out the show, was LA based headliners, Fever The Ghost who performed a colorful set of psych-pop gems. They have a new EP on the way in September and gave us a nice glimpse of what to expect when they played their sure hitting single, "Fathoms".
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 8-12-13
Renowned music supervisor/tastemaker Thomas Golubic’ (SuperMusicVision) will be joining us for a very special interview/dj set. Thomas is currently AMC’s go to music guy for the hit TV series’ The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and Ray Donovan. Thomas is no stranger to the HPR airwaves and always brings some very special handpicked nuggets for us to groove to. This will also be a special set for Thomas, as it comes the day after the Final Season Premiere of Breaking Bad, so don't miss it!
New Hollyrock artist Sami’s first single and video, “Go On Darling,” off her forthcoming debut EP. The song was co-written and produced by Troublemaker (King Fantastic, Rad Omen), and the video was directed and shot by Brazilian duo Arthur Rosa França and Lili Fialho. We’ve been keeping up with Sami since her cover of Willie Nelson‘s ‘Crazy‘ & now we bring to you the lady’s very first official music video. New track ‘Go On Darling‘ is a magical journey into a naive world, detailed in this ethereal track. With Sami‘s beautifully subtle yet raspy voice, combined with a video that screams ‘I’m probably on meth in this rather magical surrounding’, to say we’re in love is an understatement. Watch the video below.

Purple is a 3 piece band from the small town Beaumont, TX. They have nothing better to do than to play until they bleed and kick a lot of ass.
Everything I can imagine writing about Fever the Ghost’s acid-drenched psych-pop involves hallucinogenic drugs. Or what was on the turntable that one weekend you experimented with them. (Ahem.) Or how influences like the Seeds, the Electric Prunes, Procol Harum, the Doors and David Bowie run through the L.A. quartet’s music, which is sonically like aiming a can of spray paint at Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. Fever the Ghost — Casper Andrizzo, Bobby Victor, Nicolas Overhauser and Mason Rothschild — is just getting started; their self-released 7-inch “Rounder” (produced in analog fashion by Luther Russell) seems beamed in from the Summer of Love. They have the sure-to-be-a-single “Fathoms,” which sticks out of their jammy, experimental live set like a hamburger on a vegan menu. And they have an EP on the way in September on the Complicated Game imprint. Fever the Ghost is heavy on the effects, but equally heavy on complexities. The cosmos will want to hear more.

In the video, Hanna Brewer (Vocal/Drum) shows her talent playing drum and singing at once. Like they call their music as party rock, their performances while having party with others are well-characterized to their music in the video. For the 270th time, Hot Tub kicked off the show with a fresh set of jams which included new tunes from Sami, Kings of Leon, Das Tapes, The Weeknd, The FiNaTTicZ, July Cruise and many more that you can listen to here.
Our first guest DJ was Andrew Harper of Rocky Road Touring. Andrew sat down for a great interview with Hot Tub Johnnie before laying out a rockin’ set of new tunes from Texas based band, Purple, The Happy Hollows, Star & Dagger, Moving Units and many more.
Our next guest dj was Monica Vergel De Dios of the LA music blog, KonstantSurprises as well as working at Spin Media and manager of Arora (formerly Sonos). Monica’s set was a mix of electro dance cuts, chill electronic lounge and hip hop including cuts from Azari & III, Disclosure, Mayer Hawthorne, Arora, Cloud, Bonobo and many more.
First in stage we had Arora. An LA band who’s new album Bioluminescence dropped just a few hours after they got off stage. They performed using nothing except their 5 voices and their rig of live looping and effects pedals. It was such a different experience to see “electronic” music being made right in front of you. Arora is definitely a band worth seeing live.
Next up we had Parade of Lights; an alt-electro band based in Los Angeles. Their fast-growing popularity brought the fans and we had a full-blown rock show with a singing and dancing crowd. They played songs from their latest EP Born To Live, Born To Love along with their new single “We’re the Kids”.
Justin Cornwall hit us with his set and got the dance party started. This 21 year old entrepreneur knows how to throw down. He played an eclectic set with everyone from Justin Jay to Radiohead. He’s already traveled all over the country, but watch out for this guy, he’s going places!
To close out the show, the ever so alluring Katja Glieson took the stage. She performed three songs including her single, “Peek a Boo”. She left her home country of Australia at the beginning of the year to record and film her series of cinematic films/music videos.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 07/29/2013
Andrew Harper has experienced many angles of the music pyramid. He started in 1997 by placing an ad in Maximum Rock n Roll to book touring bands at various DIY venues and clubs in his hometown of Houston, Tx. The first half of the 2000’s were spent as a touring musician in various indie rock bands. In 2006 and living in Los Angeles, he started his own booking agency- The Volume Agency that would nurture the touring careers of many bands and DJ’s such as Teenage Bottlerocket (Fat Wreck), Young Heart Attack (XL), DJ Blake Miller of Moving Units, and famed west coast House DJ Doc Martin. Before joining Rocky Road Touring in 2012, he held positions in A&R, Producer Management, Music Licensing, and as guest columnist on Hits Daily Double.
KonstantSurprises is an LA-based music curator and artist manager, specializing in marketing and promotion full-time. When DJing, KS provides mostly nu disco and electro lounge; then house and hip hop when the time is right. She has worked closely with KCRW’s Garth Trinidad on music event company, MojaMoja, and currently manages vocal+electronic group ARORA. In the day, she takes her talents to a top online music media publisher. KS’s main focus is to just bring the good vibes. KonstantSurprises is Monica Vergel de Dios.
LA band ARORA (previously Sonos) appears to be on the brink of a new sound as they gear up for the release of their resonant and addictive new album, BIOLUMINESCENCE. Two years in the making, "Bioluminescence" perfectly demonstrates the cinematic dream pop sound that is ARORA, marrying dreamy vocals with striking production. ARORA takes the album to the stage using nothing except their 5 voices and their rig of live looping and effects pedals. In 2012 they appeared on The Pet Shop Boys' album ELYSIUM.
Parade of Lights are an alt-electro band based in Los Angeles. Comprised of core members Ryan Daly and Anthony Improgo, the group combines equal parts rock, new wave, and shoegaze to create a unique blend of 80’s influenced pop drawing on inspiration from artists like U2, Depeche Mode, M83, and even Madonna. Recent music film and TV placements have gained the band considerable attention from music and TV insiders, not to mention a legitimate core group of dedicated fans. The exposure along with POL’s hook-laden songs and entertaining live show, led to a publishing deal December 2011 with Imagem Music. The band’s latest effort, an EP entitled “Born To Live, Born To Love”, was released in September of 2012…
Justin Cornwall, DJ/Social Media-ist/Event Production, 21 year old music entrepreneur, is one of the younger contenders in the Los Angeles events scene. Starting at 16, as an intern for a major record label, working his way up the ladder of music business, Justin has seen many faces of music. He has traveled the country multiple times as a tour manager, been a part of some of the countries biggest festivals, but always ends up back in sunny California. Justin manages accounts for several artists, weekly events, production teams and takes care of his own. He has the know how on how to successfully take care of your audience at 2 AM after a show, or during those months while hiding away doing recording.

Closing out the dj portion of the night was Hunnypot resident music curator, DJ Boom Shack. Boom Shack's handpicked selections consisted of new jams from Scorpio Loon, Wolf Alice, Jagwar Ma, Joey Bada$$, Kidnap Kid and many more.
LA based folk-rock, pop, quintet, Will and the Wont's were our first performers of the night and boy did they prepared a brilliant set of foot stomping alt-country rock jams with some serious pop hooks.
Next to hit the stage was LA based (via Burlignton, NC) rock n' roll 4 piece, Jive Mother Mary. JMM completely stole the show with their deep southern power rock jams, which included the highlights "Keep On Keepin' On" and "Down South Manifesto". The boys are currently in the studio recording their third album which should be out later this year.
LA based blues, rock n' roll guitar virtuoso, Jared James Nichols took to the stage with his 3 piece and blew the roof off with his unmatched guitar shredding skills. Having just signed a deal with Sony/MTV's Hype Music Publishing, 2013 is looking to be a breakout year for Jared.
Closing out the night was LA/Japan based power dance-pop duo, Future Boyz. The newly formed rap group consists of producer/rap vocalist, Shum and rhymesayer, Wayne. These two burgeoning international pop stars powered through a fantastic 2-song set of high energy electro-pop jams.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 07/15/2013

Our next performance was none other than Actor/Director/Musician, Jeremy Sisto. You all may know Jeremy from his acting roles in shows like Six Feet Under, Law & Order, Suburgatory and the classic 90s film Clueless. Jeremy joined the Hot Tub for a special stripped down acoustic performace of new songs under his new music project, Escape Tailor. OONA is the musical brainchild of Dave Tweedie and Oona Garthwaite. Born in 2006 of an impromptu and sparse jam session (Dave on drums, Oona singing), Dave produced a few of Oona’s songs, and when they parted ways, Oona recruited some musicians from Craigslist to bring these tunes to the San Francisco club scene. A few months later, Dave had a dream, in which he heard Oona playing at an art gallery. He called her up, and invited her to work on some more tracks. Lo and behold, he joined the band as drummer and musical director. They have since gone on to sell out SF establishments like Bottom of the Hill, Red Devil Lounge, Cafe du Nord, and The Independent, as well as sell over 27,000 single downloads on iTunes. In the world of pop music, where lip-syncing and backing tracks are all but ubiquitous, OONA is the authentic article: great musicianship, a truly unique voice and a raw, vibrant stage presence, delivering well-crafted songs and smart lyrics with passion and intent every time. Don’t sleep on it.
Jeremy Sisto is joining the ranks of actors who sing. Perhaps best known amongst Clueless fans for his big-screen take on Coolio's "Rolling With My Homies" -- you know the pivotal scene -- Sisto, an actor of numerous film and TV credits including the ABC sitcom Suburgatory, Law & Order and Six Feet Under, is using his deep, mellifluous voice on a high-concept debut album entitled Escape Tailor. The songs, many of which written and recorded in his home studio, are largely contemplative and downbeat, reminiscent of Jeff Bridges' down-and-out balladry in Crazy Heart, fueled by Sisto's expressive baritone, which frequently rises to a tenor howl. Its themes – alienation and attachment, hardship and faith, transgression and redemption – come alive with Sisto's facile acoustic guitar work, incorporating threads of folk, country, R&B and blues. Escape Tailor is named after Sisto's alter ego (well, Beyonce has "Sasha Fierce"), who has performed in intimate venues in New York City.

Diamonds Under Fire began as the solo musical project & heart of Los Angeles based singer, songwriter & guitarist Vanessa Silberman. In 2012 with the addition & collaboration of Jessica Goodwin (drums) & Melinda Holm (bass/vocals) Diamonds Under Fire was re-born & completed. Diamonds Under Fire's 3 piece power house live show & music has often been compared to the raw bare bones rock 'n roll of Nirvana, The Ramones, Chrissie Hynde with the danciness of No Doubt & the vocal pop melody sensibilities of Pink. Diamonds Under Fire has played The El Rey, The Troubadour, The Satellite, The Echo, The Viper Room, & Bootleg Theatre. Diamonds Under Fire has been featured in Guitar Player Magazine with a cover call-out & has been featured on 4 Vans Off The Wall Compilations CDs.

Closing out the night was New York based rapper, Zak Downtown, who captured our ears with his own blend of NY styled rap – mixed with electric-hip hop vibes. Zak is currently gearing up for a summer tour with Hoodie Allen and is definitely placing himself in the category of one’s to watch in 2013.

Meet Chad Gilbert, renowned performer, producer, and founding member of pop-punk-rock band New Found Glory. Rapper and native Manhattanite, Zak Downtown is trying to take over the rap game. He is creating his own blend of New York style, electric vibes, and hip-hop. The focus on capturing hip-hop and creating a sound divergent from what’s been done or expected is emblematic of the work. He is redefining what it means to be a hip-hop artist. In the coming years, Zak Downtown is definitely someone to watch as his career is just starting and will only continue to flourish.

Is a five-piece rock band from Los Angeles, may be the best garage band of all time, street-smart sounds with a modern twist. The single, Feral Children, was mixed by Grammy winner D. Sardy (Jet, Wolfmother, Slayer, Noel Gallagher, many more), and sonically calls to mind his most successful achievements.”If you see Prima Donna’s live show, by the time it’s over, I guarantee that you will walk out the door knowing that, by god, you’ve just seen a rock ‘n’ roll band. Odds are good that you’ll also be humming a new favorite melody and grinning from ear to ear too, all while still digesting the rock ‘n’ roll spectacle you just experienced. And that, my friends, is always an exhilarating feeling”.–John Anderson, Twangville
Hot Tub Johnnie and the HP Radio crew once again delivered an outstanding show for all who attended The Mint LA and/or listened live online. Johnnie kicked off the 266th radio show with a smokin’ set featuring gems from Oliver Tank, Brøthers, Here We Go Magic, Peachcake, Kasey K., The Cataracs, 5150 Squad and much more.
Our special guest of the night was none other than 25+ year music industry veteran, Andy Ross (Cutting Edge Group). Andy prepared an exceptional set that paid tribute to the punk years or “Thatcher Years” that shaped and pioneered the early punk music scene in Britain. Andy’s set was loaded with classics from Sex Pistols, The Jam, The Clash, Jilted John, The Smiths, The Specials, and Elvis Costello.
The first live performers of the night were LA based indie-pop duo, Blazing Hips. Playing only their second official show together, the boys came out with a groovy edged, retro pop set that featured their standout singles “The Wolf” and “Cheetah” a quirky uptempo synth-pop, dance gem.
Our second performer of the night was LA based indie rock, singer-songwriter, Inch Chua. Quickly establishing herself as one of the must-see acts in the LA scene, Inch and her extremely talented band completely stole the show; taking it to a whole new level. Inch’s guitar skills and vocals were explosive, especially while premiering new material from her forthcoming sophmore album, due for release later this year. Be sure to stay tuned to Inch Chua on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest happenings.
Coming back for an encore performance was none other than LA based (London bound) sister DJ duo, Le Twist. This was a very special performance, as it was Le Twist’s final LA show before they treked across the pond to London town. It was the perfect send off for the girls who prepared an exposive dance set loaded with many of today’s top hip hop, trap, pop, house and electro bangers. Briana and Dani will be hugely missed, but we wish them all the best on their musical dance journey. Be sure to stayed up-to-date on all of Le Twist’s latest dance mixes at http://mixcloud.com/LeTwistLA.
Officially closing out the night was Hunnypot fav and LA based (via Chicago) MC/producer, E-Train. Joining us for a brief exclusive performance, E-Train and Blingstein premiered 2 new unreleased trap bangers that we can expect to be dropping very soon.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 06/03/2013

He has supervised and coordinated music for over 80 movies in the past 3 years. He currently manages Cutting Edge Group's North American music department, and loves fusion music, anything with soul, originality or that stands out from the crowd....
Blazing Hips is an indie-pop duo from Los Angeles with a curious fixation on the animal kingdom. Formed in 2013, The group has already produced two fauna-pop favorites; “Wolf” and “Cheetah” Employing a veritable zoo of sounds- fuzzy vocals, groovy bass, bombastically retro synths, drum machines and tambourines, Blazing Hips makes 4-minutes-and-under safaris into the jungle of retro edged pop, emerging as a final earworm chorus brings things to an almost too-soon close. Blazing Hips is Nicholas Tashjian and Kelvin Stewart. Nick goes to bed at a reasonable hour and always wears comfortable shoes. Kelvin likes weak tea, saltines, and a warm bath. Both can be found at Blazing Hips shows around the LA area, or working on forthcoming releases.

Born and raised in a colourful family of theatre pedigree in Singapore, Inch was always destined for the performing arts. She learnt the guitar and started songwriting while enrolled at fine arts school. In 2009, Inch gained the attention of music critics with the release of her debut EP, The Bedroom - a collection of playfully delightful melodies. The success of The Bedroom opened the door to her first invitation to SXSW Music Festival in 2010.
Since then, Inch played at The Canadian Music Festival and again at SXSW in 2012, opened for The Like, Katy Perry, Macy Gray and Vampire Weekend, performed at Asia’s key festivals MIDI (Beijing, China), Mosaic (Singapore), Baybeats (Singapore), Music Matters (Singapore) & TEDxWomen (Washington DC). Following The Bedroom, Inch released Peace, Love & Mistletoe in December 2009; and an acclaimed full-length album Wallflower in 2010.

Our 265th Hunnypot Radio Show was another classic! Due to scheduling circumstances we pushed back our start time to 9pm, but that didn't stop Hot Tub Johnnie from bringing you one hell of a show. Hot Tub still sparked the night up with smokin' DJ set, which featured current jams by The Strangeloves, Jack White, Peachcake, Speak!, 2 Chainz and a blistering new Crizzly Remix of "Thrift Shop".
Our first performer of the night was the highly talented singer-songwriter, Carey Appel. Carey played a heartfelt set of stripped down acoustic folk rock songs off her newly released album House Of Cards on Heather Road Records.
Trabants an LA based (via Boston) instrumental rock trio blew the party open with a fast and grooving set of instrumental surf rock tunes. Playing cuts off their full length LP Highwire Surfing as well as new unreleased tracks, Trabants performed a reverbish collection of surf gems a la The Ventures.
Next to hit the stage was LA based super side band Alpha/Beta. The band consists of Brett Anderson (The Donnas) and Asa Ferry (Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti). The group played an upbeat set of high energy rock tunes with a slight twist of folk, pop, country and southern tinged rock influences. They're currently touring around LA and shopping their soon to be released full length LP.
Closing out the night was Nick Pratt an LA based rapper (via Fort Worth, TX) who recently released his highly sought after EP, The Badu Sessions. Pratt performed a killer set of laid-back soulful hip hop jams off The Badu Sessions, as well as previously released party bangers that quickly turned the dance floor over. Nick is currently in and out of the studio as he prepares to release a forthcoming LP.
All in all, it was another amazing show put together by the incredible Hunnypot Unlimited team. Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support, perform, and both the The Mint and Hunnypot crews. We couldn’t make it all happen without each and every one of you! 5/20/2013
Growing up in an entertainment family on the west side of Los Angeles, Carey Appel’s love of music began at age 3. “Such a grown up voice for such a little girl” was most often heard. Grammar and high school musicals abounded until a coach skipped over her for “Fiddler on the Roof.” Carey gave up music during college, but after a personal life-changing event, this captivating performer and soulful storyteller returned to the music community in 2011 with her first album, “New Favorites.” Her company, aptly named Heather Road for the street she grew up on, produced the album of aurally seductive vocals influenced by Melody Gardot, Patti Griffin, Cheryl Wheeler and Judith Owen.
She has since teamed up with artist and producer Lisa Nemzo (Dream Wild Records), who is producing her newest album “House of Cards” - featuring original songs written by Carey and co-writer Marc Platt. Demonstrating Carey’s innate passion and musical finesse, this new series is a collection of diverse and riveting acoustic singer/songwriter and rock arrangements with a sophisticated folk flair.

Trabants is a surf band from Boston, MA featuring a rotating line up of assorted musicians who find their muse in the dusty bins of 60's instrumental surf, lounge, and soundtrack albums from around the globe. Having come together in 2010, the band has evolved from an experiment in vintage mono recording that snowballed into their debut full-length album titled, "Highwire Surfing." Trabants soon after found themselves playing to thousands as part of Boston's First Night Celebration, selling out their headlining record release show one month later and garnering an Independent Music Award nomination for Best Instrumental album. With shifting moods from beach party a go-go to dusty western cowboy sunsets to martini lounge leisure, Trabants prides itself on inventive arrangements recorded in vintage fashion to transport the listener into their world.

Nick Pratt is breaking the mold of Texas rap. As a Fort Worth native, Pratt’s music is Texas home-grown, but his southern swagger is blended with a typically northern substance. Pratt’s music maintains a classic country grammar, while his lyricism is that of a socially conscious jester. His mix of humor and absolute realism integrates the realities of a young scholar with rapid wordplay and knowledge beyond his years. He has gained performance experience by opening for rap artist like Wale, Wiz Khalifa, Tanya Morgan, Young Scolla, Dom Kennedy, and Pac Div, and received both national and international press across the board, including features on XXLMag.com, Ozone Magazine (online), AllHipHop.com, Black Entertainment Television’s “The Deal” and the “Under The Radar” column in JENESIS Magazine.
To the top is the next level for Nick Pratt, and learning how to overcome newfound challenges will help him separate himself from his competitors. Middle Finger Music, which will be releasing near the end of 2011, will help Nick continue to establish himself in the industry and showcase a nearly perfected craft.
